October 2012 Weddings

I found the gift my FI will love even more than boudoir photos!

I just bought us tickets to Book of Mormon!!!! I found some that are for 4 months after our wedding (and the week of Valentine's day!) for a "reasonable" (ha!) price. We've been wanting to see it since it opened, but tickets have been impossible to get.

(Um, for anyone not in NYC - this show has been sold out of the cheapest -$70 - tickets for a YEAR in advance pretty much since it opened. With how much recognition it's had/stupid Comedy Central constantly advertising it, it's been insanely difficult to get tickets for less than $300/each. I found some for $150/each).

Now I just have to somehow keep it a secret until the wedding.

  • That is awesome! Well done and I'm jealous of your awesome gift!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • We're so excited that the Book of Mormon tour is coming to Buffalo this season in the spring, and I'm anxiously awaiting the day that the presale tickets go up. Good find!!
  • We're excited about this too! I'm debating buying this for him now. We missed the last run in Chicago, and don't want to miss this time.

I hope you all get to see it on the upcoming tours! We were kind of tiffed that it was going to tour before we got to see it here (because really, what's the point of living in NYC if we can't see shows before the rest of the country?!?!), but oh well. There are plenty of shows for everyone :)

I think it's a good wedding gift because it's A) Something he really wants and B) A guaranteed awesome date in a few months.

  • I found an inexpensive gift I think FI will appreciate - but nowhere near that caliber! Nice score!!!

  • We aren't planning on doing gifts for each other as we are both paying for the wedding.  Is anybody else foregoing the gift to their future husband?

<div>Yes, we're also not doing gifts. We may go in together for a couple's massage on our honeymoon, but it won't be a "wedding gift."</div>
  • How fun! Can I marry you? ;) Haha

We're not doing gifts either, but we'll exchange cards.

    Anniversary
  • We decided that we're going to find something on our honeymoon as a gift.  I still have to figure out FI's birthday present, as his birthday is three days before the wedding, so I'm glad I don't have to do a wedding present as well.
  • I think it's totally okay not to do gifts. Marrying each other is gift enough, right? :)

I've been wanting to get tickets to this show for him for a really long time, but at the price level that's available, it seemed like way too much for Christmas/a birthday.

I wouldn't normally spend this much on a gift like that (and I'm pretty sure whatever he gets me will not be in that price range), but I feel kind like the guy kind of gets the short end of the stick with having to buy the engagement ring, and having so much attention go to the bride only throughout the whole thing (the e-ring, bridal showers, etc). I asked if he wanted an engagement ring too when we got engaged, and he (sort of) jokingly asked for an engagement iPad.
