Feeling Defeated

I can't seem to get myself into weddign mode like I wanted to.

WE just got bad news that is really not helping my headspace. FI was laid off on friday he works this week and then he's done. Recall isn't expected until august. He cannot be unemployeed for the 8 months leadign into our wedding.

I am super stressed, and might be a little MIA. but I still love hearign what everyone'sup to so I'll at least be lurkign until I devise a new plan or he finds a different job. This is the worst timing!! I am excited that it means he'll be home at night with me though, so theres that.

Send good job vibes his way. He loves his job and if he accepts another job it takes him off the recall list, but we just can't have him unemployeed right now, at max unemployment benefits he'll still be losing more than half his income.

Hopefully he can find a similiar position in the same field that is more permanent and lets him stay at home nights with you.

FI and I went through a similiar situation. It worked out really well in the end for us. Hopefully it will for you too! The time in between is really hard though, but keep your chin up.

He survived a few layoffs since he's been there, including a massive layoff last august, we thought he was finally in the clear and had reached the top tier of workers that don't have to worry about layoffs. So long as the plant is open X number of people are needed, but they have cut way further than anyone imagined. He was 16 people from the top of the list to go, they cut another 25% of the workforce that was remaining after the 40% cut last summer, unfortunately it was a low enough number that they weren't required by the union to warn them, in fact I heard about it on the news before he'd even been given his slip!!

So sorry to hear that! Hopefullly he will find something he loves just as much. My FI is currently laid off and collecting unemployment as well which isnt ideal but unfortunately his business is seasonal. He does sales for a hardscape company but since its winter up here and sales are low during the season they alway shut down until spring. Sending some new job vibes for your FI! Just hang in there! : )
