Father/Daughter Dance Song

I am trying to come up with a song to dance to with my father for my wedding.  I really don't want to choose a traditional "daddy's girl" type of song.  It's just not me.  I have a song in mind that my father used to sing to us and play on the guitar when we were little but it is definately not a traditional wedding song.  It's not even a song about family or love.  It's just a song that is a good memory of my father for me.  I am afraid people will think it's weird.  Is it?

Is your father financially contributing to your wedding? If so,(or even if not) I am doing "Kind and Generous" by Natalie Merchant.

<div>I'm not sure why this would matter at all.</div><div>
</div><div>OP if you have a song that you want to use, use it.  It doesn't matter if your guests don't get it, it's a moment for you and your dad.</div><div>
</div><div>If you wanted, however, you could put a special note about it in the programs if you are having those.</div>

  • People don't really pay attention to the lyrics so I think it would be fine to use whatever song it is you are thinking of.  Also ask your dad.  I asked my dad what he wanted as well as my MIL for the M/S dance.

As long as its not sexual I think you will be fine.

  • I would use the song that's special to you and your dad. That's going to mean more than a random song than nice lyrics. I'm doing "House on Pooh Corner" by Kenny Loggins because it brings back really great  memories of my childhood and car trips. It makes me more genuinely emotional when I hear it, as opposed to some cliche father/daughter song.

  • I'm doing 'Amarillo by Morning' even though it's country music which I don't generally care for and the lyrics are about a guy that's about to ride bulls at the fair.

Why?  When I was little girl my dad had it on vinyl and used to dance me around the living room on his feet -very carefully- so as not to skip the record. <3
