bought my dress (again)

I bought my dress at the beginning of June. The store called me and said that the designer was going out of business and I wouldn't get a new one. They offered the sample to me 50% off. While thinking about taking it, I tried on dresses with the FI. He and I do not agree on dress styles; he likes bling and dramatic dresses and I like simple. I tried on a couple more dresses that I thought he would like but wasn't super impressed.
I went back to the store today to try on the original dress with jewelry. I loved it even more than the first time! Even with alterations its going to be cheaper than when I first bought it.
I'm so relieved. This has been stressing me out all month. I should have just gone back to try on this dress first instead of looking around again. Its not a style that my FI likes, but I think he'll love it all the same!

  • Yay! Then you know it is the right one! And getting a great deal is always a bonus. Will there be a pic of it?

  • Here is the dress

    Lace detail:

I plan on putting a flower on one side of the sash to make it a little less plain. And have a matching flower in my hair. Maybe something like this:

With the necklace in the picture and these earrings:

And these shoes. Planning on adding purple flower shoe clips to them but want to see how they look by themselves first.

I jumped on buying all the accessories today too! Everything should com together nicely!
  • Your BM dress goes so well with it!

He'll love it because you'll be glowing in it.  You'll be more beautiful on that day wearing the dress of your dreams than something that is more his taste.

Your dress is just lovely.  Congrats!!!

  • LOVE the dress, it's a lot more flattering on you than the fussier one was, and more classic and elegant, which will be great 50 years from now, looking back at your photos.  I also love the accessories! If your fi loves drama you *could* go a little more dramatic with your jewelry, but what you have is  gorgeous. I'm so happy for you!
  • My FI is really picky about fashion too. Not that he's into it, but he just knows what he likes and doesn't like, especially on me. I showed him a picture of the dresses I liked before I went shopping and luckily he really liked the one I picked. I showed it to him out of the bag but not on my body and he loved it. I know though that even if he wasn't sure that he would love anything I wear - and your fiance will feel the same! You look beautiful in the dress.

  • Yay thats so exciting, I had a similar experience. Im sure he will LOVE the dress you chose, like a pp said "IF" you wanted to add some bling you could add a really pretty brooch to the center the sash instead of the flower. I think by having the one in your hair it will make that stand out more and show off your hair style... BUT thats just imo. I dont know about your area but we have high end consignment shops that always have great jewelry for reasonable pricing. I have seen vintage inspired brooaches many times. Im waiting till I find a larger one before I purchase and the shop owner has my number and will set them aside till I come check em out. I bought my bms pearl necklaces there too.
  • I just bought a vintage pearl brooch for $2 at an antique shop so cheap, beautiful, vintage brooches are out there! I'm putting mine on my sash.

  • Your dress looks lovely!
I left my FI out of my dress decisions because we do not agree on style(and because I want it to be a surprise!). He never likes what I shop for until I'm actually wearing it and then he says he likes it...lol.
