Just Engaged and Proposals

Just engaged :)

I just got engaged this past Wednesay! It has been a busy weekend with my fiances graduation and now I have time to sit down and think. I do not even know where to start! Any tips? We are thinking of being engaged about a year! I am so excited!

Re: Just engaged :)

  • Congratulations!!!
I recommend just taking a couple weeks and enjoy being engaged! If you are planning on getting married next summer, I would start looking at venues, ceremony site and photographers first.

  • Congrats! The 2 main things you should start with are budget and guest list-you can't really decide on venues, etc. until you know those two things!

Congrats on your engagement!!  Enjoy a week or two of just being "engaged", then you'll have to get semi-serious and start "planning".  I would set a date, research venues (especially if you're gonna be a summer bride), then start thinking about your guest list.

Also, join your board for your month you decide you wanna get married.  There are ladies on there that I'm sure will be able to relate and you guys will get through all of this together!  Congrats again!!

First, enjoy being engaged. Focus on that! YOu have plenty of time to plan. PLENTY.

Then budget and guest list like pp said. Write out all the people that HAVE to come (siblings, parents, granparents are usually on that list, then comes aunts/uncles, then cousins, then.. etc)
Then you can look at your budget and see exactly what is a reasonable amount of people to invite based on your budget..
From there you can start looking at venues and figuring out your "style".

Congrats! I agree with everyone enjoying being engaged! I let my family start stressn me out about details too soon and I regret not enjoying!!!
  • Congrats! I too am newly engaged and hopefully will not be on the FIVE year plan... lol
I think the above advice has helped me too. Enjoy being engaged for a while 1-2-3-years is not unheard of and don't stress into it too quickly. If Brad Pitt and Angelina can wait so can we.. why? Because we want everything to be perfect, money, timing, family arranging to be there, venues all the stressful stuff. Buget, guest list, then everything else will fall into place.
    Good -luck
