New York-New York City

Serious Help!

Hi everyone,

I was hoping for some good advice - I'm trying to plan a wedding, hopefully somewhere in Manhattan or thereabouts (dumbo, etc).  After a year of hemming and hawing, I think I need a wedding planner to get my butt into gear.  So I starting doing research and making some calls - and wound up crying.  One wedding planner - after telling me her fee is $45k, and then letting me know that it is impossible to have a wedding in nyc for under $175k (no, I'm not kidding, straight from the horses's mouth), I got off the phone feeling hopeless.

Does anyone know of an excellent wedding planner that doesn't cost some people's yearly salary?

And, be honest, is it possible to have a wedding in nyc for a realistic price?  As in, less than the above-mentioned moneymaker's fee?

I really appreciate your thoughts!

That planner is insane!!  Of course is it possible to have a wedding for MUCH less than that!!  Contact Christine Viola, www.exquisiteaffairsproductions.com. She is reasonably priced and much more down to earth than that person!

My wedding will be awesome but not super fancy or anything, will be in DUMBO and all together will probably end up around $25k for 100 people.  That person is ridiculous.  Can you post their name so we know who they were?

I just wanted to say thanks for all the help and support - I was really floored and upset!  This was my first posting on the board, and the support and kind advice made me feel much better.

The wedding planner was from State of the Art Enterprises.  Needless to say I was shocked at her price quotes, and honestly, I think she was shocked at my budget.  To be frank, she made me feel embarrassed, which is just wrong.  You cannot expect every bride to have $200k laying around for a wedding (but if you do, more power to you!!)

I have contacted Christine at Exquisite Affairs, and her rate is reasonable and she seems great!  Interview already scheduled.  Smile

That is INSANE!!!!!!!!  I love my planner, Katie Berger from Sara Kate Events!  Her prices are really reasonable and she is wonderful!  I highly recommend contacting her, she is recommended by lots of other brides on here too (which is how I found her).  Email:  sarakateevents@gmail.com
    Good luck!

I second Sara Kate Events!!!!  She was my coordinator at my Dec. wedding and she was simply a life saver!  I loved, loved, loved, loved her.  She made everything so much easier and recommended a ton of vendors that were great.  I highly recommend her!

My friend from England booked all her music overseas using John Arden Music  He covered every song and gave her a live music and dj package at a very fair price

She did not even use a planner and described his service as professional and easy to use

Hope that helps lessen your load

Yikes!!! that's expensive. Try Events by Markz www.markzandco.com, I think they're pretty reasonable.
