A Question About Balls

No, not like that, and yes, I am a 12-year-old boy occasionally.
I just found out that my FI is helping to co-ordinate a golf tournament before the AF Ball in P-cola mid-August. I will (God willing) be moved down there by then, and he'd really like me to go with him. It will be our first big deal military thing as an engaged couple and his first big thing on this base (the last real military get-together we went to was his ROTC dining out). Advice on all things military ball: I needs it.
I'm especially concerned about what to wear. I have a feeling it's formal (as he has told me he'll have to drop $400 on his new dress uniform), and the last formal dress thing I've been to was my prom. Almost 10 years ago. Most of my friends have had dressy/smart casual weddings, as most of them have been daytime to save money, so I really have no idea what to wear and not seem over/under done. Help please?

I have been to 8 MC balls, and an AF formal event with my bestie.

Number one advice is don't wear a prom dress. Find a nice, one colored dress, and wear it. Balls aren't super insane, there tends to be lots of tradition, and lots of motivation, and even silliness.

The balls are similar to dining out in attire.
Like Stan said, no prom dresses please />_< . Last year's d.o. I went to Davids Bridal and bought a simple long black dress. Keep it long and classes. At the one MC ball I went to, the couple girls wearing bright pink prommy dress and the couple girls wearing short cocktail dresses definitely stood out, and not in a nice way..

This is what I wore to our dining out:

Something like these would also work very well...

Hope that helps with an idea!

I wore this one to Balls 2 and 4.

This one to balls 3 and 5 (and a few other events).

    Balls, 6/7/8 Different Units

AF event (an awards ceremony, not a ball). I normally wouldn't go short since bestie and her H were in mess dress, but since it was knee length, formal in style, and fabric (and it was at a super hot base, in the desert), I did. And it is not the same one shouldered red dress from the MC balls. That one is long, lol.

Stan where did you get that red dress??! I have been looking everywhere for a little red dress and can't find anything... I think it's just not a popular summer color or something :(

The little red one I got from the bridal salon I was a consultant at two years ago. I do happen to know that this site

gets their dresses from the same supplier that we did. There's only an XS left, but that's the size I wear, and you look pretty tiny.

Click the Military Newleywed box in my siggy it has a whole thing on military balls.

Basically, keep it classy. Do not wear anything skanky or scandalous.. The simpler the better.. IMO..

Stan, you guys seriously look like a Hollywood couple.  You're going to make such an incredibly beautiful bride!  You'll have to pin a wedding picture in your locker at OCS when you go - no one will believe someone so rough and tough can get so dolled up!

And your DH reminds me of an actor, but I can't put my finger on which...

BAHAHAHA ANTM.. that just made my day.. so true. I totally pose now because of that show.. >_<

Oh many I love the top of that red dress. I just want a thread where everyone posts pictures of themselves in all the different dresses they have ever worn. That would make my week.

tehehe.. in my head this was funny.. it might not be to anyone else.. but it made me giggle..

I just read the title again, and thought it was funny because my cat got fixed today.. and ditz that I am.. picked him up from the vet, brought him home, took him out of the carrier, and called the vet back to say "umm.. I think you forgot something, his balls are still there" they lol'd me.. I'm ashamed.. I really thought all his boy parts would be gone... our other cat who's like 15 doesn't have any boy parts... Am I missing something? We need a vet on the board..

anyway.. that was my question about balls...

My cat's been fixed a while, and he definitely doesn't still have his balls, so that's weird. Maybe they have a less invasive way to do it now?

They said it's because I waited so long to get him fixed (I didn't actually, I took him from some crazy preggo girl that could afford to feed him) so he's fully developed. He's "sterile" and that probably his boy parts will shrink with time, but that they will probably always be there... red rocket and all... ugh.

It wouldn't bother me as much, but he's a seal point siamese, his feet, face, and tail (all his points) are dark brown and his body is cream colored.. and his balls are black. Black against all that cream/tan color.. it's just a little bit odd looking. I suppose this is exactly why you're supposed to get a cat fixed at 4 mos... Undecided
