Odd numbers for wedding party?? Help!

I have more possible bridesmaids than FI wants groomsmen. Is or has anyone had an uneven number? What do you have the extra person, or persons, do? I may have 1 more bridesmaid than groomsmen. I just don't see how I can leave this person out, but FI really doesn't want to add anyone else to his side. 

Ideas? Advice?

    Hey Kelly..... My FI and I just spoke with a prospective photographer on Tuesday night that was telling us that he has shot weddings where there has been 1 brides maid and 11 groomsmen or 2 groomsmen and 6 or 7 bridesmaids. Obviously that is a bit extreme, but tell you FI that. lol There should not be any problem with having  +/- 1 bridesmaid or groomsmen. I have been in weddings like that and it's not an issue at all. One of your bridesmaids can walk down the isle alone (my suggestion...the girl right in the middle so everything blends) or have a groomsmen just have two bridesmaids to walk down the isle. There is no reason why this should create a problem. It doesn't look off in photos or for the guests watching. Hope this helped!

    I think it's totally ok to have an uneven wedding party! It doesn't matter the numbers so long as you have people you love up there supporting you. Although we happened to have even numbers, I went to a wedding where there were 4 more bridesmaids than groomsmen. 2 groomsmen had 2 bridesmaids he walked down the aisle, and it looked just fine- didn't even look out of place. I suppose if you don't want the whole bridal party walking down an aisle, the groomsmen could enter in the side with the groom and just have the bridesmaids walk down the aisle. But I wouldn't really worry about if they look uneven, because it's going to look just fine, even in pictures, and I'd rather know I included everyone I wanted to than  regret I left someone special out because I wanted everything to look perfectly even.

    We will be uneven.  We have 2 groomsmen and 3 bridesmaids although one of them is a junior bridesmaid.  Therefore, I will have the jr. bridesmaid walk down by herself which I like better than matching her up with an older groomsmen.

    For the ceremony, you could:
    - have the groomsmen at the altar right away with the groom, then the BMs walk in by themselves
    - have your MOH walk by herself with everyone else paired up

    For your reception, you could:
    - Have a sweetheart table so the WP will be split up anyways
    - Have a head table with your parents and you/FI, no WP
    - have uneven sides - nobody will notice/care

    We have uneven sides! I think that it is more important to have everyone you want and care about involved. Good luck with what you decide!

    We were uneven, 7 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen.  The last groomsment walked with 2 bridesmaids.  I'm pretty sure he quite enjoyed having two lovely ladies on his arm.  It's no big deal to be uneven!

    We were uneven, with one extra BM, and the last GM walked with one on each arm.  :)  It was all good!  You definitely want to have those most important to you, regardless of number, and trying to find an "add-on" is just added unnecessary stress.  :)

    It's definitely ok to have uneven sides.

    You could either alternate girl / boy walking down the aisle.  Or have all the GM already up front and just the BM's walking down the aisle.  Or you could have 2 BM's to 1 GM.  It could definitely be something you play around with at your rehearsal.

    I dont see anything wrong with that! If you have 1 more BM than GM, you could always have the GM walk down 2 of the girls? Or just have everyone walk back down the isle alone? I don't think that having more would be bad at all...

    We are uneven too. 6 groomsmen and 5 bridesmaids... I had an even number then one girl had to back out.. at first, i was freaking out but uneven isn't that big a deal. I def. didn't want to just throw someone in to make them even out.. that's not what it's about. Just the people who you want up there matter!

    I've been to a few weddings where they had uneven sides, and in all but one case, the bridesmaids walked themselves down the aisle. The other opted to have 1 groomsmen walk 2 bridesmaids at the same time, and it was actually really cute to see.

    I'm having a man of honor instead of a maid of honor, so chances are I'll have everyone walk alone. And since I'm opting to play "I walk the line" instead of "Here comes the bride" having our bridal party walk alone will hopefully allow me enough time to play the song in it's entirity Laughing

    Plenty of weddings have uneven numbers, The last person just walks with 2 bridesmaids/groomsmen.
