Who is invited to the rehearsal?

My fiancé and I are a little conflicted over who belongs at the rehearsal dinner. I want our parents, grandparents, and anyone who is directly a part of the wedding (bridal party, readers, etc). I don't think it's necessary to invited dates (it would double our guest list and our cost and in my opinion, dates are non-essential) What are you ladies doing?

Re: Who is invited to the rehearsal?

  • Hmm... Okay. By non-essential I guess I kind of mean that dates/husbands/significant others of our bridal party aren't "essential" to our wedding and don't really need to be at the rehearsal or following dinner. Of course they're invited to the wedding etc the next day, but I feel like the rehearsal is for those directly involved in the wedding. As far as out of town guests, we live in Kansas City and 99% of our guests are from out of town, so while I understand that is what people usually do, it's not even an option for us. It would end up being like a second wedding!!
  • Was really trying to keep my numbers down by not inviting guests, but sounds like that might earn me the "bridezilla" title (or something similar, at least!) Thanks for your help!
