Dress fitting-disappointed :-(

I had my dress fitting today and I'm pretty disappointed in myself. The dress fits exactly like it did when I bought it...and I was really hoping it would be too big at this point. I've been working out and people say they can see that I've lost weight but I honestly don't see it at all. It's a strapless dress and I definitely need to use the next 6 weeks to try to tone up my arms because I am super self-conscious. Any advice on how to lose a few pounds and tone up so I feel more comfortable and beautiful on the big day?

  • Check out the getting in shape board.  There are daily accountability threads.   The best way is to start tracking what you are eating and eliminating processed foods, or food high in sodium.

    For quick arm exercises:

    Push ups
    Chair dips
    Dumbell curls
    Tricep extensions

  • Hey, people have noticed!  A lot of times people lose pounds and no one even notices... remember its not the scale that matters!
    Good luck!
  • The only advice I can really give is to count your blessings... at least your wedding gown isn't too small. If you really work on it you could lose a little weight by the big day, but then there may not be enough time to alter it so it fits you properly. If it fits perfectly now, love the fact that it does. If other people are noticing your weight loss (without you prompting them), they can't all be crazy! Wink

  • Chair dips are great!  I do them when I know I'm wasting time on here, pinterest, or watching TV! : )
  • i use the nike fitness club app for iphone and LOVE the 15 minute workouts.. they seriously kick your butt!
just remember to eat foods with FRESH ingredients (no processed crap!) and kick up your fruit/veggie/water intake...sounds like youve done well so far.

as far as the weight loss goes -- it could be that you've toned up and changed shape slightly.    so tight vs loose clothing and scale number means very little as far as you losing weight.  FWIW i've been the same weight and overall clothing size for the past 10 years, but have definitely changed as far as fat vs muscle mass. lol when track season would start -- my pants would no longer fit because of the muscle i put on, but i'd LOSE weight!
If other people are noticing that you 'look better', then most likely you've toned your body into a healthier version of you! (congrats!)

like PP said -- be glad the dress fits!
  • I was also disappointed in how my arms looked in my halter style dress. The seamstress said the best thing to tighten my arms up in a hurry was swinging. My mom is going ape sh*t over this and insisting that I do "100 sings every day".....So far not feeling a difference, but this is only day #3.
