How many servings of cake do you need if you have other dessert options?

We want to serve individual pies and donut holes alongside our cake but there will be way too much if we get enough for every guest to have one of each kind of dessert.

Dees anyone know of a good way to guess at the servings?

  • I think you should have a slice of cake for every guest. I love wedding cake, so I would be really bummed if I didn't get my slice for some reason and had to have a donut hole instead.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I would have one slice per person.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I think you still need to plan for everyone to have a piece of cake.  Usually cake servings seem pretty small at weddings, so I think people will enjoy the other desserts.  I would probably estimate 1 slice of pie per person, and 2-3 donut holes per person.  Are you having a lot of flavors of pie?  If so, you might want to estimate a little more per person, since people might want to try multiple flavors.
  • You should enough for every person at your wedding.  That goes for all food, not just cake or dessert.

  • Agree with all the PPs.  I've never not eaten the wedding cake and would be dissapointed if I couldn't get a slice.  If there are other desserts, I have no problem also gorging myself on those in addition to the cake.
