Pie instead of cake?

Just incase Carly can't answer my question, I thought I'd get other brides' opiniion.

I hate cake, would it be weird to have pies instead?  I figure I can get a multitude of flavors and make lot's of people satisfied.  Groom and MoH are on board but I don't want my guests to think me weird ( or more than they already do..)

Thanx, Samantha

Hmm - I have mixed emotions.  As a bride and being all for doing what makes you and your FI happy on your wedding day I feel like I might be a bit hypcritical here.... I think the cake is a main attraction and even if you don't like it, it would be nice to have it for the guests.  Maybe have pies as another dessert option for you and the few others that may want that instead?  Sorry, this may not be any help at all.  lol

Go for it! There isn't a rule you must have cake.  FI hates cake so we are getting pie too. However, I love cake so we are having that as an option as well.

As a personal fan of cake and not typically a fan of pie I would be upset if I attended a wedding that didn't have cake. Might I suggest that you do a dessert bar instead. That way you can have cakes, cookies, pies, etc. You can ensure that there will be something for everyone.

On the other hand, it is your day and you should do what you want. FI and I are actually doing an ice cream cake from Coldstone for our cake because FI isn't a fan of cake.

If you want pie, have pie. You don't have to have cake to please your guests. If they don't like pie, they don't eat pie. But I do think you'll get a lot more flavor variety and are more likely to hit on something that every guest will like. Not everybody eats cake either and you can't try to please everyone.

This one is kind of iffy because I know a lot of people that do not like FRUIT pie. So, if your going to do pie, at least have a variety like chocolate pie too!!

There are going to be people who won't like whatever you serve. You can't please all the picky eaters out there! If they don't want to eat it, they're adults and aren't going to kick up a big fuss about it. I mean seriously, they aren't five years old; they know how to be good guests by this point in their lives.

As a cake lover, and usually a pie disliker, I would be sad that there wasn't any cake, but it's not like I would cry about it.  If you had a variety of pies, I'd be able to find something I liked.

I say just do pie and skip cake.  PPs are right.  You can't please everyone, and there are plenty of people out there that don't like cake but they don't run around complaining that there wasn't another dessert choice at the wedding.

Lol, actually their WILL be a five year old at the wedding, and other children, I couldn't not allow chilren, when my own son, who will be 1 by the wedding will be there :P

You all made me feel a lot more confident about my decision!  Thank you, and I'll definately have more than fruit pies, probably a french silk, and I might have a cheesecake their too ( I've always see it as a pie anyways)

    Thanx so much!!!

Just had to add that one of my friends just got married and had a Pie Bar.

It was so much fun! She had I think 5-7 different types of pies and guests just took a slice of whichever pie they wanted. I know she had extra pies in the back.

    Go for the pie!

Go for the pie! Neither my FI or I like cake. We're going to have cheesecake instead. I'm sure a few people will not like it, but on the other hand, both he and I have attended plenty of weddings where cake was the only dessert, and we did not complain. :) Have what YOU like!

Though, I hate missing out on the effect that a beautiful cake has in adding to the decor and ambiance, so I'm hoping to find a way to display the cheesecake so that it looks elegant and artistic. Let me know if you have any thoughts or hear any great ideas for this!

I would just make sure to do different flavors of pie.  Don't do all apple pie or all cherry pie, but do apple, cherry, chocolate, PB, pumpkin... so on and so forth.
