Wedding Cake Reccommendations

Hi! I'm currently looking for bakeries for wedding cakes. We're about six months out from our wedding and are looking to make appointments for tastings within the next few weeks. There is a possibility that we might only be doing one real layer and the rest as a dummy cake, so we also need a place that does dummy cakes. I've contacted Shemry's via email and phone and have left voicemails, but they have not been returned in over two weeks. What are some other places that have yummy cake for affordable prices?

I did a few tastings and we went with wright's dairy farm. They had the best designs and pricing. It took me a while to get in touch with shemry as well. I am not sure if wright's does dummy cakes.

I used Something Different Cake Couture for my dummy wedding cake (as well as for a real cake for my shower) and LOVED both of the cakes! Her name is Maureen and she is out of North Prov.

The best cake I have ever had was from Creative Cake Company out of Newport. Sin Dessert (eatwicked.com) came in second.

Funny...we preferred Sin to Creative Cake.   The champagne cake with raspberry ganache was decadently deliciious. .

We are using Scrumptions from East Greenwich.  We used Sin for our engagement party and they were great as well!

</div><div>I had the banana cake with Mexican ganache from Sin. It was really dry compared to Creative Cake's version. It might just depend on the type of cake and flavor too. It's not easy to get a moist banana cake.

I just met "Cakes by Rhonda" (from at the Bridal Expo and she does dummy cakes- its ALL that she does. I had a sample of her cake it was the best sample of all the cakes that I tried today at the show.
Even though I am not felling the whole "dummy cake thing", my fiance likes the idea and I think I may be setting up an appointment to meet with her.

I met Rhonda too, and really liked her. I thought she was nice- and pretty inexpensive.
She didintmention to me that all she did was dummy cakes- I didint realize that.

yup Rhonda only does all dummy cakes with the real one in the back. She said that she does it because they are really moist and when you place them on top of each other for the layers, they will crush over time. This way you can have a display in the reception and then a super moist cake in the kitchen waiting to be cut.
I'm not crazy about the idea of the dummy cake, but her samples were the best ones at the show. They really were moist! Laughing
