How do I dress up rose bushes?

My fiance and I are getting married in January in an outdoor courtyard/garden setting (the chance for rain in southern California, even in January, is slim). However, there are several rose bushes lining the property that will be pruned during this time of year. Does anyone have any ideas of how to dress them up so that they don't look so bare and bleak?

I agree with the prior poster.

- small silk roses
- maybe ribbon threaded on the bushes, or bows
- crystal garland. Great place here (look at the beaded curtains, cheaper) www.shopwildthings.com. I've ordered stuff from there, very speedy, and the online description was accurate.
- white (or another color to match your theme) strings of lights
- since it's January, maybe fake plastic/crystal icicles

I like the strands of lights idea...casts a whimsical glow...even during the day...kinda the look of candles if you go with clear, but you could use your colors too...and right after Christmas, you can probably find them on sale if you want to wait that long.

So... people want to put fake flowers on real bushes? That would look ridiculous in my estimation.

I'd stick with the lights or something other than fake flowers on real shrubs.

The event manager suggested the lights, which is the only consideration I had so far. I just wanted to see if anyone had seen anything else creative that I could use. Thanks for the input!

and I agree, fake flowers on a real bush would look tacky. Strings of crystal would be very pretty or lights would be nice!
