I'm keeping my middle name, but all the women in my family have the same middle name with the spellings alternated by generation. (i.e.: mine is spelled like my grandmother's not my mom's)
I'll most likely change my last name, but haven't fully decided.
Neither! My dad picked my first name and my mom is very attached to my middle name and my last name dies with me so I'm keeping them all. I will just be FirstName MiddleName MaidenName NewLastName A mouthful, but I like it! Not sure what middle initial I will put on legal paperwork though.

Some people drop their middle name and replace it with their maiden.
Jane Mary Doe marries John Smith and her name changes to Jane Doe Smith.
I actually know a lot of people that drop the middle and make their maiden name their middle name.
My middle name is Danielle...I was named after a guy named Daniel who used to be a family friend but now has dropped of the face of earth and is big into drugs, so I really don't care to keep it. FI thinks it's weird to drop it, so I'll probably just drop my current last name.
I am changing my middle name completely. I am named after my grandmother's mother (my first and middler were her first and last). This grandmother and I no longer speak because she has treated me horribly so I want nothing to do with her mother's name (though switching my first name is a little much). I will be taking my mom's name as my middle name so I'll be FirstName Mom'sFirstName FI'sLastName. I like this too because before my first, middle, and last all came from my dad's side. After the wedding I'd have a name from my dad, a name from my mom, and a name from FI which are what I think of as the 3 branches of my family.
I'm adding FI's last name (no hyphen, just two last names), but since I live in Louisiana we have different laws and making my maiden name my middle name causes more problems than not.

This is what I'm doing! My middle name has no meaning to our family, it's just a common middle name so I'll drop it and move my maiden to my middle name!
I'm changing my middle name. I've never liked it, and it's my mum's mom's name, who was abusive to her as a child. I don't want it. So I'm changing it to one I like better. I'm also changing my last name to Fi's last name.
I have never liked my middle name, but obviously my parents do. If I were to make my maiden name my new middle name, my full name wouldn't flow AT ALL. So I'll be keeping my middle and changing my last.
Good question...I hadn't really thought of all the options before! I was thinking I'll just add FI last name and keep all three that I have now. I go by my middle name so I can't drop that one! I'm the last in our family with our last name, so I hate to get rid of it!
I have no idea yet. I don't want to get rid of my middle name or my last name. I'm attached to both of them but I'll still be taking FI's last name. It doesn't flow very well with all of the names together so I'll need to decide which to drop. It's a lot more difficult than I thought it would be!
My mom did that and kept it that way after her and dad divorced since he was in the military. I was thinking about that cause I did the whole hyphen name and I didn't like it cause everyone still called me by my maiden name (no one liked my first husband). I think I might do that as well cause me and that middle name of mine don't get along well like the person I am named for. Its my last living grandmother middle name and well me and her haven't always been on the best of terms since I am a carbon copy of my mother (the one she REALLY hates) so it would be nice that my middle name would be my maiden name. Think my dad would love it. And I am with a PP, dad had two girls so the last name dies with us.
I'm dropping my middle name and taking FI last name. So my "new" middle name will be my maiden name. I have no attachment to my middle name. I love my last name and the family it represents, and I feel like I've accomplished so much with it that I want to keep it.
I am just going the traditional route and changing my last name lol. Everyone in the family has done that, and I don't feel any pull to do anything different.
I think if I do change it, I'm going to hyphenate it legally. It flows nicely (my last has 1 syllable, fi's last has two syllables).
I'm planning on continuing to use my maiden name professionally... Also, it's a really unique last name and a lot of people call me that as a nickname, so it's really hard for me to let go.
Honestly, the only reason I'm hyphenating my last name is for the convenience factor once we have children... a shocking number of places make you prove they're your kids if you don't share a last name.
Luckily, all my names are short (first 5 letters, middle 4 letters, maiden 5 letters married 6 letters)... so I won't have an absurdly long name
I'll be just dropping my last name and taking his. I like my last name now, but I like his too, so I don't have any qualms about taking his instead. Besides, no one on either side of my family has ever kept or hyphenated their last name.
I have never liked my middle name, but it's a female version of my father's name (kind of why I didn't like it- as a friend put it *very* well: "It makes me think of your dad. In a dress."), which makes me kind of attached to it. And my maiden last name is a pain in the arse. Only 6 letters but always always always always misspelled, super frustrating. So I'm giving it up.

Some people drop their middle name and replace it with their maiden.
Jane Mary Doe marries John Smith and her name changes to Jane Doe Smith.

It's very common in Latin cultures for the female to drop her middle name (if she had one) and her maiden name becomes her middle name.
I am changing my last name... I have ZERO connection to my biological family... and I cannot wait to get rid of that name !
