Greek Music

My FI is 100% Greek, so I know Greek dancing is VERY important for our reception. My question is should I expect to have to provide this music to the DJ, or should they be able to supply this? We're in the beginning stages of planning so we haven't really looked into DJs yet, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this (having the DJ play cultural music). We also want regular music too, so it isn't like all the music needs to be Greek. TIA!

Not sure if you are interested in live music but in case you are I highly recommend the Chris Sarlas Orchestra.  They played at our wedding and were fantastic. While they didn't play any Greek music at our wedding I know that they specialize in Greek music.   Their website is http://sarlasmusic.com/

Good luck with your music search!

When I was searching for DJ's, I made it known that we would be needing Arabic, Greek and Spanish music.  Like you, we only want a few songs from each, but I wanted to make sure that the DJ was comfortable with cultural music and the cultural dances.  We found a DJ that has experience with Spanish and Arabic weddings but mostly spins current (American) music.  We are providing him with a CD of some Arabic and Greek songs (he already has the Spanish music).

My DH is also 100% Greek.  We had both a Greek band and a Greek DJ.  Our DJ could have played both Greek and American music, but we chose to have him stick with the American music and had the band play the Greek music.  Both the DJ and Band were outstanding!  Here's the link to the DJ:
