Chocolate covered pretzel sticks?

Hi brides!

I've been thinking about favors so I can price them to know my budget. Ya, I know, backwards. =]

I was thinking about doing pretzel sticks dipped half way in a few different kinds of melted chips (I have found this to be the best flavor) such as milk chocolate, white chocolate and possibly Reeses chips too. Since they harden quickly I will not have the pooled chocolate on the bottom ( much nicer apprearence, I thought) from letting them harden on wax paper.

My question... would you enjoy these (we're not doing formal...) or do you think they're too cheap looking? Also, I would have to make HUNDREDS of them and don't want to do it the day before... how would I store these to keep them fresh? Ziploc?

Thanks so much!

Another option if you're interested -- after you roll them in the chocolate, you can roll them in multi-colored jimmies (sprinkles). I made a bunch like that for New Year's Eve and they came out so pretty or so "happy" as DH called them.

I would think you could keep them for several days in plastic bags, but I'm not at all an expert on that.

I make these all the time...... And also am making them for favors. The best way to dip and dry these is melt your chocolate in a double boiler. If you don't have a double boiler then use two pots that stack. It doesn't have to stack perfect. It canbe lopsided ... As long as one fits in another. Get the bottom one boiling with water that cover about halfway up the top pot. Then put you chocolate in the top pot and keep stirring until melted. Keep the heat just warm enough to keep the chocolate melted but not really cooking. Then just put your pretzel o er the pot and spoon the dripping chocolate over the pretzel. Of course you can use a ton more chocolate and just DIP... but spooning works easy and you save money . Coat the petzel either half way or 3/4 up the pretzel rod. Personally I prefer 3/4. Then you can use jimmies or colored augar crystals or even something like coconut and sprinkle it all over. I personally prefer twisting the pretzel and sprinkling for a cleaner look. To dry..... Use a sheet of wax paper and then find something to make a kind of rail for the pretzel to rest on. This way you chocolate pretzel isn't drying flat on the counter and ending up with a flat side. So basically the pretzel is drying slightly raised on one end and ony a small bit is touching at the base and the other end is holding it up. Just the otherday i made chocolate peanut butterer pretzel sticks for the first time. I first spooned peanut butter melt on and let dry, and then spooned dark chocolate melt on top of that. SO GOOD!!!!!!!!

I would love them. I would add color as others have suggested with sprinkles and dry on the edge of a baking sheet, with the pretzel raised up on one end. We make these at Christmas all the time.

As for your question as for how far in advance. We make them about 2 weeks and store them in an air tight container. It is sort of like a 9x13 pan with a lid, just make sure the layers are seperated with wax paper and they are stored in a cool place so the chocolate won't melt but not a cold place or the pretzel gets soggy. In the winter we just keep them in our pantry (but we keep our house temperature at 67degrees) And they keep just fine because as long as the pretzel doesn't go stale you are OK. Even if you do them 7-10 days in advance, you'll be fine.
