Just from posting here and there on the accountability threads, I notice myself drinking at least two if not three glasses of milk each day. Sometimes I eat yogurt or other dairy products, other times I don't.
I do buy skim milk. But is it okay to drink that much milk daily if I am trying to lose weight? Or should I swap it out for water?
Re: Too much milk?
IMO, milk is a good thing. It's a source of calcium and protein, and while it does have quite a bit of sugar, it's of the natural kind. Yogurt, well, it's best if you're having the more natural, less processed kind, but I wouldn't say yogurt is evil, again, it's a good source of calcium and protein (especially Greek yogurt!).
You could always give it a shot, try cutting back a glass or so a day and see if it has any effect, but really, if you're happy, then I say keep at it.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
[QUOTE]If you are able to fit that much dairy into your diet without sacrificing your other food groups, I think you are fine. My only concern would be if you are taking in a lot of dairy-based calories at the expense of other food groups. I LOVE dairy but I am really careful to make sure I get as many fruits, vegetables, high-quality carbs, and other proteins as I need as well. It may be harder to do this if your caloric intake is restricted, but if you can do it and dairy makes you happy, then do it!

I agree with this. But hey, if you can fit your milk into your calorie count for the day and still get enough to eat, go for it.
[QUOTE]Water should always be your drink of choice regardless of weight since it is what your body craves to be hydrated. Other than that, be careful with too much dairy because you could get a kidney stone.

Well, milk contains water. It's like 99% water. You don't have to drink pure water to get your "water" needs. You can get it from food, too, like fruit. Although as you said, the less the body has to filter water out of things the better.

<div>milk is a good hydrator - it is actually recommended when you're hung over (aka dehydrated) because it has electrolytes. </div><div>
