TGIF!

Friday's finally here!

Everyone ready for the [long] weekend?  Big plans?  Illegal fireworks to set off?

Last year we were at FI's family's beach house and their neighbors drove their boat out into the sound and set fireworks off from there.  They accidently set one upside down, so instead of shooting into the air it just exploded on the boat!  Eveyone and everything [except the boat's carpeting that they were going to replace anyway] was alright, but it was a tense moment.

Everyone be safe out there this weekend.  Not just with the fireworks.  Safe driving, too.

I didn't think this day was ever going to get here this week!!! TGIF!!

Mary, hope you guys are staying off the boat this year!! About 8 years ago I actually had a friend that was on a boat and watching the fireworks and one hit her in her leg and she got burned really really bad :(

i have been MIA lately but most of you on my FB page know what DH and I have been up to!! I will still check in when I can but the doggies keep up really busy!

I am having dinner with a friend tonight. Tomorrow, Heidi is going to live with her new "FURever Family" so I am taking her to Trinity, NC to meet them half way. Supposed to have dinner at MIL house tomorrow evening but we will see what time we get back. Sunday and Monday hopefully will be quiet for us unless we get any playdates for the doggies!! Paw crossed!
I think we can see one of the HUGE fireworks display form our backyard so I am hoping Sunday we can just sit and watch from home. Although, we do have one that is terrified of thunder so I need to figure out how to make her as comfortable as possible this weekend.

Hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend!!

Amanda you'll be sooo close to me when you're in Trinity.   :)  You should stop in Lexington for BBQ on your way back!

    Hi Ladies!

I am planning on being on a boat for the 4th, but I'm very afraid of fireworks due to an incident that happened a few years ago with some druken guys setting the firework off on unlevel ground and it tipping over and literally shooting at me... lol. But yeah, I'll make sure to be far far far away from any fireworks!

I think I'm going to go see Eclipse this weekend. Anyone fans of the books? I liked the books before the movies came out, and honestly, the movies aren't nearly as good as the books, but I still like to go see them.

Amanda, have fun with your MIL... how are things with her? Has it gotten better since the weddig?

I've read all 4 books and the partial draft of Midnight Sun that's online.  But haven't seen any of the Twilight movies.  Bella was too annoying in my head for me to want to spend hours in a theatre with her.

My friend and I are currently discussing if there are correlations between which "team" (Jacob/Edward) people side with and their cultural background.  And also if they've seen the movies, read the books, or both.  Sooo, please add to our data.  Whose team are you on?

Better in a sense as in......i don't deal with her, lol. Other than that, I have pretty much learned that she is who she is and a very manipulative person and I just sorta let most of it roll. We still have NO idea what her problem was at the wedding and why she acted the way she did and stormed out. My guess is that she is going to bring it up this Saturday and honestly, DH and I could care less and will probably leave if that is what she decides to do. We are in no mood to rehash her issues b/c regardless of what they are, her rudeness was uncalled for. We haven't actually seen her since the wedding and she didn't contact us for 2 1/2 weeks after so HE has spoken to her a few times and she has emailed me some but the responses we have are short and sweet....not to be rude to her in any way or disrespectful, we just chose to limit our dialogue with her. She is very nosey and tries to be in our business. She doesn't hold a conversation well, she like to interrogate and ask questions that are non of her business. She pitched a fit the other weekend when we wouldn't change our plans on FATHERS DAY weekend to come to her house. It was fathers day and both of our dads are very well alive and living so naturally that is where we were spending our time that weekend. She even tried to guilt trip us about family coming in from out of town that weekend and we needed to make time for them...later we find out they weren't even there to visit with her or us, they were there for a concert their daughter was having and were staying at the hotel with the concert group!! she is just manipulative and selfish and has probably been that way all her life and isn't going to change. i am just picking and choosing my battles and ignoring her, trying not engaging her when i can.

haha, I think Bella is much less annoying on the screen then she is in the book.

I'm a team Edward, but I have to be honest, part of that is because I liked the actor that played Edward before Twilight. But I do like Edward's personality in the book and on screen.

If I were Bella, I would see Jacob as the best friend that you love but would never take it further than that friendship for fear that it would ruin it.

    Whose team are you on?

I'm also team Edward.  When I read the books it was very clear, I didn't even realize that anyone could be team Jacob until I started seeing things pop up on facebook, it boggled my mind.  My friend says I'm the only team Edward person she knows.

My friend and I agreed that as long as we were both team "anti-Bella" it was OK to be on different boy's teams.

I think even if I did see the movies I'd be team Edward.  I liked the actor in his Cederic Diggory days.

Happy Friday to all!!  I hope everybody has a great week-end.  Kevin and I are going "window shopping" for wedding bands tomorrow, just to help give us an idea of what we need to save.  And we are having a good ol' fashion BBQ on Sunday.  Can't wait.

Amanda, Charlotte is really afraid of thunder and fireworks too.  we called our vet and they gave us 2 doggie valiums ($8) to use for this week-end.  Not a big fan of sedating my dog, but I am afraid she will shake to death if we don't... She is petrified of firecrackers.

Good luck everybody have a great 4th of July Week-end!!

Oh wow, Amanda... she's an interesting one! Good Luck this weekend!

I cannot believe she expected you guys to spend Father's Day at her house instead of your father's houses. Crazy!

janice, im not a fan of sedating them either, with some dogs it makes them more paranoid. i think she will be okay. i am going to make her a "hiding spot" that she can get all comfy in, in the back of our walk in closet. if she wants to come out she can but if not hopefully she will feel secure and safe in there.
we will be home, so we can keep an eye on her.

i hope you and kevin find some wedding bands....we got our at jareds!

    kyle, congrats to your FI!!

Amanda/Janice -- my parents' sheltie is terrified of thunder and fireworks/crackers and goes crazy if she hears them and starts to shake.  My parents lead her into a bathroom and turn on the exhaust fan to drown out most of the noise, which calms her down a lot.  I think the pipes in the walls plus the exhaust fan dampen most, if not all, of what she can hear.  Just a thought!

good idea Beth, I will try that.  The one big problem is I live in South Carolina and fireworks are legal... and they love to shot off fireworks in our neighborhood (especially our neighbor).  So it can be very loud, I don't blame my dog for getting scared!  Me and Kevin talked about sending her over to my FMIL house (older neighborhood, less noise) but I would still worry about her.

Poor lil' furbabies, I hope they all make it though the week-end with out losing their fur!!

That is really cool about the fan. Good idea and glad it helps your dog!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful July 4th weekend. And safe, of course.

I am definitely Team Edward....well I don't like the movies, but I love the books.  I agree Mary, I never thought anyone could be Team Jacob.
