*pointing down* IHO Wicked's post

What with this unsavory trend of celebrating the bachelor parties more extravagantly than the actual wedding?

Not sure. I mean it would be different if it was - say - a camping/fishing trip. I can see it being a 4 day thing then, with your buddies, out in the woods communing with nature/passing gas with wild abandon/whatever the best part of camping is for a bunch of guys.

Maybe it's the media. "You know what we should do for your last hurrah? Hire hookers to give you some disease that will make it burn when you pee and then get you so shtfaced you end up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning!"

i thought bachelor parties were about sharing a hotel room and going to see the butterflies.

i side-eye the "i'm going to be stuck at home doing nothing while he's out partying."  really?  then no one will be watching the tv and eating ice cream and bacon all day?  that's the saddest part.  don't worry, bacon and cookies n cream -- i'll be here for you.

Did she actually specify what they were doing the whole time??  I don't really see a problem with using a bachelor/bachelorette party as an excuse to take a mini vacation with friends.  Now, if they are going to be trashed and living in strip clubs the whole time then yes...that is a problem, but a weekend at the beach/camping/in vegas if you can afford it, doesn't bother me.

I think that if your actual wedding isn't a four day trip extravaganza, then your bachelor party damn well shouldn't be, either.

    This.

DH had an overnight camping trip bachelor party in the wilderness.

For BIL's bach. party, they went down to Nasville for 3 days and whooped it up and bar-hopped.   Maybe there was one trip to a strip club, but I know it's not how they spent the whole trip.

Eh, Dh's friend lives in NC.  DH and another friend made a 4 day weekend out of the bparty.  There was really only one night designated as a b-party, but for DH it was 4 days with his buddies.

I'm with L&R.  It's just a long weekend with his friends, not a 4-day bachelor party.  Especially when some of the guys are OOT, it doesn't make sense to travel for one night at a strip club.

Chick needs to get over her own party issues, though.
