problem with George Street Photo and Video

My fiance and I contracted months ago with George Street Photo and Video based on their Best of the Knot 2011 and 2012 awards, as well as the great portfolio they showed us.  My wedding is coming up fast in October 2012.

I am SO NOT PLEASED with their planning process. You don't get to work with a human.  We are supposed to use an online tool that is BROKEN and I can't seem to get a live human being to answer me about it.  I'm so frustrated!!  It also automatically calculates the amount of time that we'll need to spend on pictures - coming out to equal practically the whole reception time.  When I asked them about it they said they didn't understand the question.

I expected much better customer service from a company with such a great repuataion.  Does anyone know who the owner of this company is, or someone who might CARE that a bride-to-be is really frustrated with their services or lack thereof??  It is fixable... but it needs to be fixed FAST.  I have already attempted to chat, phone, and email with them.

Their contract is all locked down - if we cancel now, which I WISH WE COULD, we owe practically the whole fees, at least that's what it seems from my non-lawyerly reading of it.

I'm so scared that we have made a huge mistake and our wedding photos are going to suck - after I took such care to try to find a good photographer.

Any advice is welcome!!  Thanks!

Re: problem with George Street Photo and Video

  • I'm so sorry that you are having this problem with George Street Photo.  I kind of new they were bogus or just not reliable because I entered their sweepstakes to win free photography for my wedding.  The winner was suppose to be announced on June 30, 2012.  They never posted the winner on their webisite.  When I called the customer service lady didn't even know what I was talking about.  When I chatted with them online they said that I would get an email or phone call with the winners information.
I just got a funny feeling that they were full of crap.
Tell them that if they do not answer your questions that you will make a complant with the Better Business Bureau.  Also if the person on the phone is not answering your questions...ask to speak with a manager or supervisor.
    Good luck!

Unfortunately George Street is just another big box photo company like The Pros or Bella and the bad reviews are rolling in on them. FYI to all the brides out there - EVERYONE gets a "best of the Knot" or "best of wedding wire" if they have 5 or more reviews or pay X number of dollars. Doesn't even matter if the reviews are good or bad. This is NOT an award that should be guiding your decision making. If you search them and sort ratings lowest to highest you'll see some of the issues you're talking about here:

All I can advise at this point is to stay ON them and fingers crossed you'll have a good experience.
