Alliegator - and anyone else interested in the oil spill

Hey Alyson,

Saw some information online today about NC and the oil spill. Wanted to share with you.

It did make me feel a tad bit better about our beach weddings, but I'm still very worried about the gulf coast as a whole! :o(

I also emailed our travel agent today to find out what our options are incase we want to postpone our honeymoon due to the oil spill (our cruise is going to key west and cozumel) They don't think the oil will reach cozumel, but they are already seeing tar balls on the beaches of Key West. Will the oil spill affect your HM?

It won't be our honeymoon. But we planned on taking our bridal party on a cruise next spring. After talking to some travel agents we were strongly advised NOT to make any plans yet.

Which, is fine. We haven't picked our bridal party yet. So its not like we let anyone down. We just wanted to find out our options and prices. Its looking more and more like a weekend trip to Las Vegas.

Yeah, I'm really worried about our HM... and wedding since it's on the beach... but whatever happens, happens, I'll be married, that's all that matters... :o)

Yeah I knew this was going to happen.  I am somwhat torn about it.  While it stinks that there will be an issue on the beach for my wedding, in a way I feel like it would make everyone see first hand for themselves how destructive this is.

I am a huge eco nut,  My wedding is mostly eco friendly products and everyones travel plus the event with be carbon offset.  I am organizing a volunteer event for everyone the day before the wedding which I was hoping would be at the sea turtle hospital.  But this might be another good opportunity for us to really make a difference.  We'll see.

From what I've read and in talking to people, the caribbean should be spared.  The way the currents are going, it really pulls the oil away from there.  Cozumel might be a little different, but I know the threat to mexico hasn't been very high...yet....
