Cupcake Table Help Needed!

We're having our cupcake table set up in a separate room right off the reception space.  Picture of the room is below.  As you can see, the table is huge, and it is not moveable out of the room so it's what we'll be using (the chairs will be gone).  There will be a white table cloth on it, but I'm concerned about it looking empty.

The cupcakes will be set up on the cake stands below, with some directly on the table.  We'll also have take out containers on the table so people can take one home if they prefer as well as plates/napkins (buffet style).  There will be green and yellow lanterns hanging from the lights.

I'm still afraid it will look empty.  Any ideas on how to dress it up while taking up some space without making it look too random?  I was thinking maybe wooden letters spelling out 'cupcakes' or 'love sweet love' painted the same colors as the cake stands, but I'm afraid that will look stupid.  I'm currently searching the Knot's reception idea photos for inspiration, but would appreciate your help!  TIA!!

Re: Cupcake Table Help Needed!

  • Definitely check out Pinterest for some ideas.  Could you do a large flower arrangement on the table behind it? Or some pictures around it?
  • What about rose petals or something sprinkled on the table?
  • are you offering any other desserts that could be put on the table as well? cookies? chocolate covered strawberries?
  • Thanks for the ideas, keep 'em coming! We're considering flowers but don't want anything too big since that could get pricey. We're not planning on any other desserts, just the cupcakes.
  • I like the idea of doing the cupcakes on different stands that might be different heights
  • I just was wondering where did you get your stands?

  • I was just thinking about this for my cake table. I think I am gonna find a little sign that says "love" and then I got some mason jars to put flowers on the sides. I will probably put some petals on it to and maybe some of the lanterns. Gonna play with it on the day of.
  • what about doing several small arangements with fresh flowers and some petals to sprinkle around like Zims said?

  • I've seen word blocks on Pinterest that are really cute. The have letters on one side of the box and the others are either painted or have photos on them. That could be cute and also fill up some space for not too much money.

You could do just the flowers laid around, not in arrangements to help cut cost.
