I would rather have my hair up because I know it will last longer and be cooler, but FI likes it down better so I'm going with sort of a half updo and I'll probably stick the rest of it up before the post-reception dance party.  I have a bunch of ideas pinned on my Pinterest board:

You can also google "wedding hair" and there are TONS.

Well, you need to take into concideration of whether it is going to be windy or not, and what the tempurature will be like.
How do you normally wear your hair?
If you typically tend to wear it down, then I don't see why you shouldn't wear it down for your wedding as well.
It also depends on the look you are going with for your wedding.
Down, to me, signifies that you are more layed back and wanting to have fun at your wedding, while up means this is a very serious occassion and, though you are joyful, you will not be 'brekaing loose'.

  • A lot depends on your dress, too. My dress has sort of a unique back, so I'm not doing a long veil or wearing my hair down. I don't want to cover it up!
But I am pretty laid back so my hair will be very loose and 'sloppy'.

I did a half up.  I rarely wear my hair up so to wear it up for my wedding would have been weird.  But I wanted something different than just plain wearing it down so I thought this was a good compromise.
  • THanks guys! Great thoughts really appreciate it. and cwaggoner thank you so much I didn't even thing about the dress! I have a very intricate back I'd hate to cover it up!

This was my philosophy, too, and also because I had a strappless dress and my shoulders and collarbone are kinda bony, I wanted to soften that area of my body up, so I wore my hair half up/down.  However, day of the wedding, between the weather, activity, people hugging and crushing it, and the sheer fact that it didn't come out the way I wanted it to, it was completely dropped by the time we got to the first dance.  I really wish I had done it all the way up, instead.

Another option might be that if you DO wear it down and it DOES droop, you can wear yor veil to conceal it the rest of the day.  Given that I had a fingertip veil, I could have done that, but I had my mom insisting that I take it off to show off the back of my dress.  However, the veil is also an option should it start to not look so awesome through the day.

BTW StephanieHall, your style is one I had tried for my wedding after seeing your siggy pic.  Didn't look as good on me as it does on you, though!
