Wedding Wednesday

I know some of us are already thinking about invitations -- I saw paper products appear on quite a few DIY lists last week.

First, I have a link for you -- Wedding Chicks came out with quite a few FREE invitation suites to add to their already generous printables section! These suites are seriously cute -- check them out! http://www.weddingchicks.com/freebies/invitation-suites/

As for the WW question... What do you envision your invites to look like? Are you paper obsessed, or are you going with something simple? Do you have any inspiration to share? Or will you go the ultra-modern, tree-friendly electronic route for all of your "paper" needs?

Discuss!

I actually already have mine mainly because I got groupons for vistaprint. My invites have a nautical chart at the bottom of where we are getting married with an anchor at the top, and rings tied together with twine iglued it to navy pocket folds and tied it with twine, with a brass colored anchor to wrap the twine around. The rsvp, and reception cards also have the same anchor and are inserted

    the pocket.

  • I got invites and thank you's from Michael's - but then my colors changed (argh!).  Luckily I unloaded them easily enough.  I breezed through Michael's again over the weekend but nothing caught my eye.

I am at a loss at the moment, but that's more due to the fact that I haven't really thought about them again than not knowing what I want.

  • I feel like I must be pretty picky because I have not found anything that I have fallen in love with. I did see a set on Etsy that were $700, without postage of course...and I am not about to spend that on paper products that people will throw away!

I am thinking about ordering a printable design from Etsy and then semi-DIY with pocket folds and inserts from cardsandpockets.com but I don't know if I have the patience for 100+ invites. I think it will come down to the most cost effective option I can find.

  • I'm going back and forth between using a vendor from Etsy just to purchase the PDF documents and then DIY ourselves... or now that you gave that free link to the invitations suits on WeddingChicks, I'm now contemplating using the mason jar suite.  Ugh.  Decisions decisions.  ;-)

  • I want tiedye invitations. Red and orange tie dye but darker colors not bright. I have seen nothing close to what I want though and found a way to make them on zazzle BUT I have to have a very high resolution picture so it doesn't blur when I stretch it to cover the invite.

haha- are we planning the same wedding? LOL Are you getting invitations already made or are you putting them all together yourself? I am just so torn on what to do. I don't want to get in over my head with printing and assembling myself, but it seems that is the only way I am going to get exactly what I want!

  • We still haven't decided but we did get some really beautiful samples from minted.com and vistaprint!  All I want to have to do is shove them in an envelope and throw a stamp on them.  BUT i would definitely consider adding the pocket fold things.

  • Every sample I have gotten and thought I was going to love I hated. In person they just didn't look and feel the way i thought they would I love my std cards that I got through wedding paper divas but they do not have a matching invitation.

    In Response to Re:Wedding Wednesday:
what does your STD look like?nbsp; maybe we can help you find something like it! Posted by Jlp818
I will try to post a pic later but they are the flow chart ones from wedding paper divas. If you search flow chart it comes up.

Here is a link to the sample on the site ... I can't find invites with the people on them that are in colors that I want - even the colors for the STD cards weren't what Ireally wanted but I thought that I would find invites in oranges / reds that I likd so it wasn't a problem... IDK i think i am being too picky about what I want the invites to be --- I loved the STD cards because they were different and still fairly simple - I wanted my invites to be waaaydifferent - hence the wanting tie dye - but i think i am going to have to settle for something else

@Dmoore421 Have you thought of doing something DIY similiar to this?  If you found some tie-dyed scrapbook paper you liked this could be done pretty simply.  :-)

Or I like this one too I found on Zazzle.  It's not tie-dye, but has that kind of vibe about it.

And I LOVE this one I found on Etsy.  :-)

  • Probably simple and cheap, Vistaprint!

I LOVE the ones from Etsy, but 5.00 per invite is a little steep ... the other one from zazzle looks cool too so I may have to look into it a little more - the problem with zazzle is everything gets changed / updated on there all the time so every time i look there is something new that wasn't there before... I was trying to avoid the DIY all the way in regards to tie dye scrap book paper and all - but i may just have to go that route
    Thanks For the Help !!!

<div>My parents own a printing company, so they are printing the invites, but they are fairly simple. We are doing the long pocketfold (4 x 6, I think?), and I figure the money we are saving on printing I can spend on pocketfolds!</div><div>

  • I am going to have mine printed somewhere - something vintage looking with rhinestone or pearls.  I have so much going on - I'm on an adoption waiting list for a newborn baby which will happen very soon (now #1 on the list); we're going to be buying a house in 2013 and putting mine on the market in spring, top it off with a wedding and I am just so busy. I'm doing some DIY, but on this I think I'm going to have to pay someone. I don't see myself having the time to print out 85 invites, glue stuff, tie ribbons - not for that quantity. So I'll fork out the cash. For the stress relief it will give me, it'll be worth it. I am going to print stuff like the menu cards - small quantities. I'm designing myself or using free templates.
