Affordable venues in Dallas?

Hi,
I'm planning a wedding for next summer, and I'd like to stay with in a reasonable budget.  I'm thinking about getting married in a church in downtown Dallas. Does anyone know a reasonably priced reception venue in downtown that could accomodate about 350 guests?

Thanks!!

Re: Affordable venues in Dallas?

  • Not knowing your budget, here are some I found:
    Cityplace $$
    Texas Discovery Gardens $$
    Em the Venue $$
    Aloft $$
    Dallas Petroleum Club $$$
    Marc Events $$$
    2616 Commerce $$$
    The Adolphus $$$
    The Sheraton $$$
The Room on Main $$ --if you could get the guest list under 300

The downtown location rules out several venues (such as Addison Event Center or the Collyville Center) that will fit a large guest size yet still be considered more in the reasonable category.  You might want to consider expanding your area.
  • I'm doing downtown Dallas too, and it's a bit harder to find things extremely reasonable. That is a large group to account for, but some of the places I looked at that ended up being reasonabley priced were Texas Discovery Gardens and Lofty Spaces. There are quite a few more but they aren't really "budget" friendly when they throw on a large f&b minimum.

  • I had my wedding reception at Cityplace, and their 42nd floor loft should accommodate 350.  We invited around 350 and had around 350 in attendance.  It's hard to make a recommendation without knowing your budget, though.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions!  If it helps, I hope to stay around $10,000 for the reception venue and catering.  I am also willing to have the reception in other areas close-ish to downtown like Addison.

    Keep 'em coming!

    Thanks!

Addison Event Center is a popular venue that holds a large guest size and is considered in the reasonable category.

ETA:  Guest size max here looks to be 300.

$10K for a guest list of that size comes out to less than $30 pp, not including any rental fees.  That will rule out most of the ones on my list above if you are planning on serving a full meal and/or alcohol.
  • Yeah, for $10,000 Cityplace is out.

  • That's a really big guest list, it can be done for $10,000 but it will mean some sacrifices. I paid around $7,000 for 125 guest for catering and venue cost--and that wasn't even the most expensive venue. If you could cut your guest list you could open up the number of venues you can look at and get it within your budget.

If you could get your list down to 200, I like the Trinity River Audubon Center. Somebody (can't remember who) had a really pretty wedding there.

Another fun option might be the Frontiers of Flight museum near Dallas Love Field. They seat up to 900 I think.
