I'm Back on the Boards...

Well, after my first wedding I was pretty sure I wouldn't be back here, doing this again but... as we all know, life changes. I am up for the challenge! The challenge being... very LITTLE money, not gonna lie. :)

So a couple quick idea to toss out... is it "hokie" to get married at his Aunts house in front of the barn, rustic wedding type situation because it will be hardly any cost venue wise? Should be spring for a hall/venue no matter what? I havent priced tents, tables, chairs so I am wondering if finding somewhere were it is all included would end up saving us money in the long run?

And colors.. imagine January... rustic, outdoors... oranges and browns? I am dead set on purchasing a wedding dress with color accent to it... so should everyone wear the same color, all brown? (Brown vests, brown dresses, orange flowers?) or is it okay to mix it up a little... maybe burnt orange bridesmaiids and groomsmen with my brown accent dress and my financee in a brown tux?

Any suggestions are welcome, thanks! :)

Its not hokey.  Have the wedding you can afford.  As for colors, mix it up.  Oranges, golds, burgundys, you can even toss in a deep green.

My cousin had a wedding in back of her parent's barn and it was gorgeous.  I love the idea of the orange dresses with the brown.

We also priced the tents, tables, chairs, etc, and it was mucy cheaper for us to rent a hall.  Of course, it's costing me a lot in terms of my sanity...

    Welcome back!

I also think the ideas for the wedding you mentioned are adorable. However, I will caution you that the wedding I wanted (the one I am having, at an historic village) is costing me as much or more than if I did it at a hall. We have to supply everything except the tables and chairs.........if I had to do that, it would have cost even MORE.

Before getting too deep into planning, check around on your local board for vendors and price out the difference. However, if you want something really rustic with no frills, you can scale back on the decor and the other rentals might still fit into your budget.

Have colors you want. There are no "shoulds" in any wedding, regardless of first or seventh!
