Reception Music

Hi Ladies, Have any of you all started thinking of reception music? I am starting to think about music selections for the reception; ie garter toss, bouquet toss, cake cutting, and then just dancing music. FI and I love Texas Country music, but also want a good variety to get people out on the floor. Any suggestions or ideas or know what y'all will be doing?

I've thought about it some, but not too much. Actually, I found the song I reeeeeeally want to be our first dance song but I can't get FI to agree and it really has me bummed. I also know the song I want the bridal party to be introduced to.

We just have the special dances picked out (FI and I- Gad Gave Me You by Blake Shelton and My Brother and I- Whenever You Remember by Carrie Underwood). No enterance music or anything yet.

My wedding choices change every day so Im pretty sure the final decision wont be made until much closer to the wedding. But, heres what Im thinking so far

Entrance: no clue.

Father Daughter: My dad wants There Goes My Life by Kenny Chesney, I would like My Girl by The Temptations. We'll see who wins that battle

Mother Son: Forever Young by Rod Stewart (it's FI's moms favorite, and it came out when she was pregnant with him)

Anniversary: Love Like Crazy by Lee Brice or You Make Me Feel So Young by Sinatra

Cake Cutting: How Sweet it is by James Taylor

First Dance: Thats How Strong My Love is by Otis Redding

Last Dance: no clue

We talk about music all the time and still cant make up our minds, so we'll see what we actually end up with

i have a few ideas for things but we haven't totally figured them out yet:

bridal party entrance: no idea
our entrace: taylor swift - love story
me and my dad: probably the theme song to beauty and the beast or a whole new world (from aladdin) or forever young by rod stewart
bouquet toss: probably single ladies or something, i know it's overused, but i love the song haha
cake cutting: no idea
first dance: i can't help falling in love with you (maybe)

yeah, we haven't thought about it too much

We haven't thought too, too much about music. We mostly have been thinking about ceremony music. Our first dance will be Better Together by Jack Johnson. Cake cutting will probably be Sweet Pea by Amos Lee. That's about as far as we've gotten. lol

I think I want to dance with my father to "I Loved Her First" and thats about all I know.
I've been trying to decide on a first dance song and the other day FI came home & said he wants to dance to "A Woman Like You" by Lee Brice- I hadn't heard of it before, if you've never heard it look it up on youtube, its cute, I just don't know about it for our first dance (it is growing on me though).

Our first dance song is going to be Let's give them something to talk about, since we met at work and it took a rumor to get it started. We keep going back and forth on a few though. Entrance: not sure. We aren't doing the garter toss and bouquet toss, I get embaressed really easily, all I can say is I hope to super intoxicated while I am eating because that is the only way I will relax lol!

Our Song: Satellite by Jason Plumb( a canadian singer, we wanted a song no one really knew and this would be it!) We just can't agree on who is going to sing it, there is a live version by my favorite Barenaked Ladies front man Ed Robertson and then their is a studio version by Jason Plumb, I told my fiance that it would be kind of cheesy to have a live version of it.

Father/Daugher-Send my on my way or Somewhere over the rainbow by that hawiian guy.

Son/Mother-Piano Man (My fiances mom loves that song)

I'd like my grand march to be songs by the Barenaked Ladies, I am a huge fan of them and so is my fiance!

FI and my entrance is going to be a big surprise to everyone but I can tell you girls...we are going to walk in to Michael Jackson "black and white"...we are an interracial couple so we thought it would be funny. Plus, who doesn't like MJ
Our first dance is Robin Thicke "Superman"
Father/Daugher: Tim McGraw "My Little Girl"
Mother/Son: Boyz II Men "Song for Mama"
Last song: Al Green "Let's Stay Together"
Cake cutting: maybe How Sweet it is but I like a lot of what other people are doing so may steal.

That's as far as we've gotten with music really. And for general dancing, we've discussed "classics" but are waiting until last minute to do the rest because we don't want to end up with a lot of overplayed stuff by then.

Thanks Girls, I don't feel so bad not having that all figured out. DirtyWater-I like you cake cutting song idea! We have our first song, but that is it and I have asked my Dad to pick out the father/daughter song so it would be that much more sentimental.
