Wendy's Bridal

I had heard some not-so-good things about Wendy's Bridal, but I decided to try it out anyways. They were FANTASTIC! I took the day off on Wednesday and I cancelled my appt at the 2nd bridal shop because I was so impressed with Wendy's. The gal I worked with was, ironically, named Wendy! She was awesome. So, if you have read bad reviews, I encourage you to give them a chance anyways. I only tried on 5 dresses that day and I found THE dress! In fact, it's a funny story. I bought the 5th dress I tried on, but once I got home I just could NOT stop thinking about the 3rd dress I tried. It was a tad bit over my price range (Not Wendy's fault, I pulled this dress myself). I went back last night and Wendy worked with me again and I bought the dress I wanted!! I am so happy :) I thought maybe I would have been a burden to her by switching dresses, but she was more than happy to help. And she is not high pressure at all! The first dress I bought was the absolute cheapest dress I tried on... she never once tried to talk me into the more expensive dress. It was my own decision to go back for the expensive dress because I couldn't stop thinking about it :) Anyways, point of this post is that I had a fabulous experience at Wendy's Bridal! If you do make an appointment, ask to work with Wendy! She's so nice!

Glad you had a good experience.  It can be really hit or miss.  I know mine was horrible, but others have had good times.  Was your first appointment on a weekday?  I honestly think that makes a big difference in the bigger shops.  My lady was with her the bride before me over her "time limit" when we started and she started to lace me up she basically said that we didn't have as much time because we started late....ummm....not my fault.  That rubbed me the wrong way.  That and sherefuse to tell me the designer. I had picked up like 3 dresses that were obviously from the same designer and she wouldn't tell me who.

Oh wow! Sorry you had a bad experience :( The gal I worked with told me the designers... she didn't mind at all! I did go on a weekday... I took the day off work beause I was afraid it would be super busy on the weekend. I ended up with a dress by Enzoani called Dillon :) It's beautiful!

I had a good experience at Wendys for my dress as well! I worked with Erin, who was great! She also told me the name of the designer of the dress I liked.

I also got my bridesmaid dresses from Wendys, and had a small issue with that. I went one day with 3 of my bridesmaids to get measured, and it seemed like they were pressuring them to get sizes that were way too big (probably to try to get alteration money.) One of my bridesmaids fit into a sample size zero (of the dress I was getting), and they tried to get her to order a size 4. Seemed strange! My bridesmaids that went on a different day (and worked with someone else) didn't have the same issue.

Glad it went well for you! I have been in there 3 times and all 3 times it was terrible. After the third time I told them I was never going back, and I never will. Maybe I just always had the wrong people :)

My lady told me it was policy not to tell me the designers.....I figured it wasn't true.

It sounds like you had the wrong people! LOL I guess I got really fortunate with my consultant :) I feel bad that brides have had bad experiences getting their wedding dress... it should be fun! I was worried going into it because of the bad reviews I saw. But from the moment I walked in they were all so nice. The story might change once stuff starts coming in and alterations have to be done, but so far my experience has been good! :)

    Congrats on finding your dress!
I had a good experience at Wendy's, even though I walked in both times. (They normally don't want you to.  They were having a sample sale the day of the Filene's sale so they were allowing walk ins).  I had to wait a few minutes for someone to become available.  I worked with Janet and Willie.  Janet was great.  Willie was a little odd, but they were both really really nice.  Willie didn't even mind splitting the sale with Janet since I tried the dress on with her the first time.  No one ever pressured me toward anything.  They did tell me it is not their policy to reveal the designers.

Oh Andria it IS true, they wouldn't tell me who the dresses were by either. Luckily I had done my research and I knew their designers. I also asked for specific dresses before I went in there. They won't let you take pictures in the dress until you have bought it either. Then, they wouldn't let us browse through the bridesmaids dresses wtihout a consultant with us. The woman I had was very rude, she said she had worked there for 20 years. You could definitely tell she was burnt out.

I bought my dress at Catan's Bridal in Strongsville which is near Cleveland. The place is huge, they carry couture, tons of accessories,  and the service was phenominal. Food and drinks while you shop! Loved it.

Catan's Bridal sounds fun! Food while you shop!? That's my kind of place :)

You must have gotten stuck with someone who really disliked their job... my girl was so full of energy and encouraged us to touch and pull dresses! I plan on working with the same girl for the bridesmaid dresses so I don't get stuck with a grouch like you did! LOL

My Wendy's experience was terrible! I went with my mother, a friend of the family, a bridesmaid (who was visiting from California) and my bridesdude (male bridal attendant). My consultant refused to talk to or even look at my bridesmaid or bridesdude! When she was helping me get into the dresses she told me "it is the most important dress, you will but but it is only a day!"  She also was very rude towards my mother.

I had a WONDERFUL experience at Wendy's as well... Worked with the several personalities I had with me- my mother, my soon to be mother-in-law, and my sister.  All 3 are very opinionated and had no problem telling her and I what they thought, which got a little frustrating for me.  However, Liv helped make the whole process run smoothly and even got my family to relax a little. I loved the idea that I could go through the racks myself to show her what I liked instead of having to describe what I thought I wanted to try on.  I didn't feel pressured, at all.  I think future brides should definately diregard some of the bad reviews and give them a chance.

Sorry a few of you had bad experiences at Wendy's- I couldn't imagine anything more stressful.
I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance, A church filled with family and friends. I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for, He said one that would make me his wife.
