Food tasting AFTER deposit

My fiance and I have been looking for two months now for the perfect reception place. We have finally narrowed it down to two places: The Millennium Hotel (Buffalo, NY by the Walden Galleria Mall) and Antonio's (Niagara Falls by the Casino). The Millennium however, will not allow us to do a tasting until AFTER we put our $1,000 deposit down.

I am not willing to put down $1,000 to see if I like the food, I don't think it is reasonable to have to pay that much. I am willing to pay for the tasting but their policy is the policy. I dont want to pay all this money for food that I don't even care for.

Has anyone run into this issue?

Any know if the Millennium Hotel has good food - for weddings?

I've never been to the Millenium, but I've gone to several things at Antonio's and their food is really good.  Just a heads up though, I don't know if you've been there yet, but its really not near the casino.  Its not that far, like a 10 minute drive if you got on the Parkway, but I didn't want you booking thinking it would be really close for your guests.

I too encountered this problem and I thought it was strange!  We are having our reception at the Harbour Club at HSBC Arena and their policy is the food tasting is after you place the deposit.  We actually placed our deposit as of now and haven't had our tasting yet so I hope we're not disappointed!

I was a BM in a wedding at Millenium last summer. The food was really great. I had a bit of the filet and the chicken. Both were delicious!

Centralparkbride - we liked both the 3rd and 4th wedding package. We def want a sit down and my fiance really liked the courses of the 4th - I just want to overload the guests with food so they are too full and tired to dance hahaha

Thank you all for all of the feedback, it has really helped to solidify my decision and boost my confidence in the Millennium!!!

I had my wedding at the millennium, and we did the food tasting after the deposit, but it was worth it. I loved the millennium. I loved the food. I could not have asked for a better venue. I would recommend this place to everyone.

We just signed our contract to have our reception in the courtyard at the Millenium. I was nervous as well, but talked to several friends and family members who have been to wedding receptions or other parties there and I kept hearing people rave about how good their food is. We ended up trying out their hotel restaurant to get an idea even though it wasn't a tasting.

We booked at the Millennium and our tasting was after the deposit as well.  We weren't really that worried about it though because I know several people that said their food is great (we've had our tasting, and it was really good!).
