Musicians for ceremony??

Does anyone have any good recomendations?  I am getting married outside and am just looking for some type of music played .  My back up is my DJ of course but I would love some traditional music played.

We booked our ceremony/reception musicians through Music Unlimited and they did a fantastic job.  Even though our ceremony was outside on the water, no one had any trouble hearing them because they had small speakers set up.  They also accomodated our special request for our processional, which they played through the sound system since it didn't really work as an instrumental piece.  The guy who owns the business, James Bazen, played guitar/sax, and another musician (never got his name!) played flute.

I think the cost for two musicians for an hour and a half was $400.

We used Bay Strings.  They were fabulous.  I dealt with Martha Vance and she couldn't have been easier to work with.

Also, this isn't a specific recommendation, but you can check out gigmasters.com for musicians.  You say what you're looking for and where you live and you get quotes for musicians and can listen to samples of their work.  We wound up not going that route because Music Unlimited was more convenient, but I did find some fairly inexpensive options on there and there was a lot of variety.

if you want something more economical, you could try peabody or one of those music conservatory places.

I would second trying any colleges like Peabody or University of Maryland. You would have to post an add on a bulletin board somewhere because professors don't like calls about this kind of stuff ;-)

I posted an ad on Craigslist asking for an acoustic guitarist who was willing to learn some songs for us and do vocals.  I got a lot of responses, and ended up finding a really awesome guy to do it for cheap.  Not sure if it ended up cheaper than a college student, but it was way cheaper than any bid I got on gigmasters, and cheaper than anyone else I found on wedding wire, google, etc.

Yes! When I was trying to find ceremony musicians I was having the hardest time. We just got married 9/18 and had an amazing classical guitarist. His name is Ben Sherman. I highly recommend him!
