Wedding Cheesecake, why is this so hard?

I have been looking online to find a bakery who will make a wedding cheesecake.  So far, nothing but fondant.  Does anyone else hate fondant?  I want a wedding cake that actually TASTES good!  So, does anyone know of a place in Maryland-Baltimore or DC areas, that will make a custom cake.  Plain cheesecake, several tiers, fresh strawberries.  Sounds easy enough to me.  Please help!!!

    Have you contacted Mary Elliott?

tellgoofy AT comcast DOT net is her e-mail.    I don't know if she does cheesecake, but she does fabulous buttercream icing.  We had her do a groom's cake, our wedding cake, a carrott cake for the post-wedding brunch (we were celebrating like 8 family b-days our wedding weekend) and the cake for our daughter's baptism.  She's fabulous and very reasonable.

From a structure standpoint, I wonder if it's possible to stack cheesecakes on top of one another to make tiers?

Anyway shoot Mary an e-mail, I love her and can't wait to order another cake from her- ooh- maybe for our daughter's 2nd b-day!

she does pretty much anything she is asked at a great price. I am pretty sure she can do that. I dont know if it's maybe a stacking issue? I dont know much about cakes. Definitely contact her.

Mary Elliott is great too as mentioned above at great prices as well

I don't know if they would be able to help you out, but have you tried the Cheesecake factory? There is one in Towson, Columbia and downtown. They might be able to help.

I think every time I've seen pictures of cheesecake instead of a cake, they were each on a separate cake stand of varying height - I don't know that cheesecake can be stacked.  Have you tried calling bakeries/grocery stores and asking for several cheesecakes and cake stands?

Edit: It is possible to get a cake without fondant.  A family friend who does cakes out of her house is making our cake, and she does buttercream frosting.  I doublt she does cheesecake though.

I echo PPs - a lot of brides have wedding cakes without fondant, and just do buttercream.  It may limit your cake styling if you don't use fondant, but most bakers can work around it.
