we are looking at 05/31/2014
does anyone have pros or cons for the  marie gabrielle
the avanti fountain place and the crescent hotel?

Re: new to this board

  • Welcome!

I think Marie Gabrielle is beautiful but pretty pricey.

We've had a couple knotties get married at Avanti and I think they were all happy.

  • Ditto professorscience, Marie Gabrielle is very beautiful but very expensive.  Same with the Crescent, I think,
Avanti is also very pretty, but I think it is only really appropriate for smaller weddings, maybe around 100 guests.

  • Yeah what nextrightthing said. All nice choices but on the upper end price wise. Avanti is best for less than 100. Welcome and congrats!
  • Thank you for for respones so if we are having 150 guests Avanti wouldnt work?
what about the venue any pros or cons?
  • From what I recall, 100 is stretching it for Avanti and it's meant for more like 75. I believe the Crescent has a very high FB minimum.
  • For 150 you might check out the Magnolia Hotel, but even then you might be pushing it in the space.

  • I got married at the Magnolia in October with 150 people and the fit was great. We loved it and Jessica there was wonderful to work with.
  • Jessica at the Magnolia is great.  We considered the Magnolia, but the look didn't fit my style.
As far as pros and cons of the venues, I don't know much about them other than what I've seen in pictures.

Personally, I think Marie Gabrielle is much more unique, and the pictures I have seen of it are stunning.

Don't know too much about those venues beyond that.

  • P.S. - I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs.  :)

oh really been here almost year not loving the weather though lol
  • Any suggestions im looking for a garden or near water venue for 150 people?
As well as  a great photographer and dj since those are most important tia !
  • What is your budget? There is nothing wrong with the venues you mention if you have the budget for them.

Yeah, the winter is not fun.  Big part of the reason I will never move back.  :)

I agree with stephiehall that those are great venues if they are in budget for you.  Maybe also look into the arboretum, Arlington Hall at Lee Park, Nasher Sculpture Center, Texas Discovery Gardens....

The options are endless for photographers and DJs but yeah, it depends on your price point.

  • Marie Gabrielle quoted me an $18,000 F&B minimum (yikes!) for a Sunday morning wedding.  But, if that's within your budget, it is a beautiful venue.

I noticed that you're interested in a venue near water.  The Filter Building is right on White Rock Lake, and you can have your ceremony outside near the water.  It would be good size for 150 people, but it's very DIY.

    our budget is 45,000
  • Ok, well then forget everything I said.  You will be just fine with any of those venues (with the exception of possibly the Crescent).  Just pick the one you like the most.

yeah i dont want to do a diy since im planning from chicago
  • does anyone know how much the crescent is? i emailed them a week ago havent heard back yet. we had to to take avanti off our list so sad lol!
  • I was married at the Filter Building, and you can see my pics below in my siggy. It fit 150 plus a band and a dance floor comfortably, but I wouldn't try to fit much more, unless you plan to utilize the outdoor space (we did not since we were married in July).
  • I thought I had a vendor tell me that the Crescent's minimum was crazy highlike over half your budget. I could be totally wrong though so wait until you hear from them.
