the Good, Bad, Ugly
The Good
Everything!!! The people at the resort were amazing! I was so worried as the wedding coordinator is completely overworked and takes a loooong time to get back to you (till one month before, then she's great), but once we got there she was so attentive and really studied the emails and conversations exchanged so she knew exactly what I wanted and needed and made it all work out! We didn't pay for a private welcome dinner but they only made one reservation other than our and since it was a smaller restaurant and our party was loud it felt like it was just there and they didn't kick us out or rush us in any way.
After the welcome dinner we did a bonfire with a steel pan band... They were FANTASTIC! So much fun!!! I asked them to teach me when they finished their last song (which was also like a half hour after their time) and they spent a few minutes teaching me how to play! I'm not good but it was hysterical and everyone had a blast!
The wedding was private, and they set it up beautifully. Im not sure if all of you were around when i was a wreck over the resort making me change my restaurant... A whole long story and partially my fault but in the end it was better than expected. The DJ was a load of fun and played for well over his time and took requests from everyone... We put a few must haves on a cd and he had a blast hearing our choices! The food, the music, everything was perfect.
Our photographer... BEST DECISION BY FAR!!! She is now a friend and she is fabulous... I've only seen a few raw photos but I know the finished product will be amazing! We can't wait to see them! It rained the day of the wedding (the bad) but she was nice enough to come get us a different day, earlier than planned, so we could take a few scenic pics before we trashed the dress! We've actually spoken to her several times since we left and we will def be seeing her again on our travels!
The Bad
Well, the stress was horrible. I was absolutely fine till a week before we left and Hurricane Sandy (coincidentally my mil name lol) took our 2 of my cousins houses and left them understandably canceling last minute. Then we got there and news of a nor-Easter hitting canceled my immediate families flights. Luckily they got on later flits on a different airline but it was a sleepless night all the same. We woke to the ONLY rainy day in whole 12 days we were there... Coincidentally our wedding day and then got my period! It rained the ENTIRE day buuuuut it was still perfect! I married the absolute love of my life and well it was just right... The next day we had an excursion booked and the sun was shining (seemed perfect) but the water was choppy bc it rained all day the day before, and quite a few people got sick on the catamaran including my mom, sis and best friend.... Hahaha... Couldn't make this stuff up!
The Ugly
Well if I don't consider the above the ugly, i think it's fair to say there wasn't any... I'd do it all over again- yep, I'd travel to Jamaica to get married in a beautiful lobby where about 300 bored restless vacationers watched and cheered us on VS. the beautiful beach lol. I guess the only thing I'd change next time... I'd include Dramamine in the welcome bag when planning a catamaran ride lol!
Feel free to ask about any of my vendors/resort! Best of luck planning your big day!
