Dress too small

I went to David's Bridal today to pick up my dress.  I was super excited and wanted to try it on to make sure that the petite length was what I wanted.  I'm 5'1", so the regular length just doesn't look quite right on me.  When I was in the store originally, I tried it on as a regular length, which fit just fine.  When I ordered, I asked if the petites are smaller and was told that they're not.  Well, they are.  My dress does not fit.
They exchanged it for the next size up and it will be in at the end of July.  They're holding on to the smaller size for me, in case I manage to loose enough weight to fit into it.  I'm not sure how long they'll hold it.  I guess if I'm still a 14P at the end of July, that'll be the dress size I get.  I looked up the measurements for my dress, and I doubt I'll be in the 12P.  I would need to lose 2 inches in my bust (the part that doesn't fit).  That's impossible, right?  Two inches, just from my bust, in about 6 weeks?
Either way, it's their own damn fault for telling me to order the wrong size.  I just felt so terrible when I was told that there was no way it would close.

  • No. Not really..
I mean.. 6 weeks isn't a lot of time but if you have a crappy diet and exercise plan right NOW, then flipping that can make a substantial difference..
It's definitely their fault, so it's your decision whether you are just going to wait until the 14 comes in and hope it's golden, or start fixing your eating and work out habits to shrink down.
When women start losing weight, the first place to go is usually the ladies.. And remember that it's not that you need your BOOBS to shrink two inches, but that you would need that AREA .. THat includes the extra fat deposits aaaaalll the way around.

If you've been wanting to drop weight, this is good motivation. Just make sure you do it healthfully, and not dangerously.

I have been wanting to lose the weight, but I've had a lot of trouble staying on plan.  My diet is good right now, about 1200 calories net each day.  I don't go to the gym or exercise enough, and I know that.  This is a kick in the pants for me to get my act together.  At the same time though, I don't want to start out with a goal date that's so close.
I know that the two inches are from all the way around, but there's not much for me to lose on my back.  I'm a 34G/H, so my girls are the problem with this dress.  I have a lot of trouble finding dresses that fit both my waist and my chest.
I'd love to fit into this dress in July, but I won't beat myself up if I don't.  I want to get healthy, get back into shape, have endurance, and just feel good about myself.  If I can't get into the dress, no big deal, the next size up will fit and look amazing on me.

  • WOW! I agree, it is their fault! It's their product, they should know every bit of it before telling you wrong statements. BUT you can totally lose weight in your bust! Diet and upper body exercises would help!

  • So I bought this ebook when I was trying to lose weight for my wedding and it gave me a lot of great tips.  I always found if I didnt have a VERY specific plan to follow, I'd go off track.  Just a tip :)

Well it's possible that the petites aren't smaller, just that the sample you tried on was stretched out. Samples are always bigger than the actual size. Should they have known that? Yes. Should they have measured you and made sure they ordered the correct size for you? Absolutely. Not saying it's not their fault, just a bit of an explanation maybe.

  • What about trying a different bra to help with chest size?  Hopefully everything will work with the new dress they are ordering in!
