Place cards for guests?

On our RSVPs we put a line for people to write in the guest's names (we printed individual cards for everyone with their name already on it). I was putting responses into Excel today and had someone indicate they were bringing a guest, with no name. I figured this would happen eventually, but hadn't yet made a contingency plan for it.

I don't know why, but I'm baffled by this situation. How do I make his guest a place card? Where do I put it in the alphabetical list? Do I just make a "Guest" one that goes behind his on the place card table? What are you planning in this situation?

Re: Place cards for guests?

  • I would contact the person, and ask tem for the name for seating purposes. I would consider this much nicer than the person getting there and not having a place
  • They'll have a place, I just don't know what to put on their place card :)

  • I would ask for the guests' name.

  • I'm doing a list ....like tabel 1 and then all the names....so i will be putting and guest on my list...you could put the guests name that you do have on a place card with & guest underneath it...i'm sure they wont be offeneded that they dont have their own card! ;) I sure hope not atleast. lol And then just leave a spot for them at whatever table that is...

  • I agree with PPs ask for guest's name or you could do wesleyann's suggestion.
  • Thanks ladies :) I'll put FI on the chase for the name for now and maybe just list a guest if we can't figure it out.

I hope you figure out your mystery man km!! haha

  • I would ask and if you don't get an answer just list "guest of john doe".  If it makes you feel any better, my future MIL RSVP'ed for herself and her guest was listed as "mystery man".  I don't know if that is a joke and she is not bringing someone, or that she is bringing someone and she doesn't want to tell us who (yet?ever?)  I called her about it and she just kind of giggled... I have enlisted FI's help to solve the mystery!
