What modes of public transportation do you have in your city? The subway, buses, taxis and water taxis.
Is it any good? The subway is super good except this past weekend when they shut down my subway line completely that gets me into the city. I took a lot of cabs.
Something about your city that you love: Everything is 24/7. I can't live in a place where stuff closes at 8.
Do you know who your mayor is? Do you like them? Bloomberg. He's a mayor who is constantly in everyone's eyes. I like him.
Does your city do anything special for halloween? We have the largest halloween parade in the nation.

The buses are ok (that's the major one), subway is... eh, it's pretty restricted, and taxis are hard to come by when you're on the street (in other words, it's not like NYC).

Something about your city that you love:

Mountains. Growing up in the flatland of Florida, I love the mountains.

Do you know who your mayor is? Do you like them?

Villaraigosa. He hasn't done anything that I know of to put a bad light on him.

Does your city do anything special for halloween?

West Hollywood is insane on halloween.

Buses mostly, cabs are hella expensive-gotta love the burbs :-P

Is it any good? Not really......doesn't get you many places, plus said routes only run on specific days

Something about your city that you love: that there's not a lot of chain stores/restaurants if you don't count the mall and galleria

Is it any good? i dunno. fortunately, i can drive everywhere here. I was so sick of taking the bus after grad school. I haven't taken a cab since my visit to Chicago.

Something about your city that you love: big enough that there are lots of different things to do (mall, opera, fair!), but not so big that traffic is insane (I couldn't live in Chicago.)

Do you know who your mayor is? Do you like them? no idea. I need to start researching this stuff since the election is coming up.

Does your city do anything special for halloween? i don't think so, but this is only the second year I've been here for Halloween. Last year there was a joint med school / grad school party. It was horrible. FI won't be here for Halloween this year b/c he has an interview on Nov 1, so I'll get to stay in and hopefully watch scary movies.

What modes of public transportation do you have in your city? Buses/subway, cabs (although, like some of you have said, cabs are hard to come by in certain parts of the city...)
Is it any good? Our public transit system is going down the crapper...drivers get paid $30/hour and still complain that they're not getting enough money, so the city keeps cutting lines and re-routing the buses to serve their purposes...
Something about your city that you love: The skyline is absolutely beautiful, especially at night
Do you know who your mayor is? Do you like them? Well, the mayor of Pittsburgh hasn't really impressed me much...he's younger than I am and was put into office last-minute because our previous one passed away.
Does your city do anything special for halloween? Each individual town usually has its own thing, but one of the downtown "hotspots" has a Halloween-themed thing and the amusement park does "Fright Nights" where all of the rides are haunted

What modes of public transportation do you have in your city?

Subways, busses, cabs, trolleys. From South New Jersey we have a train that will take us directly to all of these in Philadelphia

Is it any good?

Yes. I don't drive into the city unless I absolutely have no choice.

Something about your city that you love:

The Art Museum. The History. The restaurants. The people - don't let the sports fans here fool you. This city is filled with the nicest strangers I've ever met anywhere.

Do you know who your mayor is? Do you like them?

I live in a small NJ township and have never heard a peep out of the mayor. I do like Philadelphia's mayor Michael Nutter though. Being mayor of a city this size anywhere in the country is a job that no one would really want right now.

Does your city do anything special for halloween?
This will be my first Halloween here. When I lived in Cleveland, the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame would have a huge Halloween party that was a lot of fun.

Busses, taxis.

Is it any good?

I don't know. I've never taken any of the busses. I don't think it's a fantastic system, but I think if worse came to worse, I'd be able to get a bus to pretty much anywhere in the city.

Something about your city that you love:

It's big enough to where it has almost everything (malls, shops, restaurants, etc) but it also still has kind of a small town feel.

Do you know who your mayor is? Do you like them?

Yes, I know who the mayor is. If it was an election year, I would not be voting for him (if that helps you decide whether or not I like him )

EDIT: and by election year, I meant if the mayor was up for election. I obvsiously know that there are elections in November for a number of things.

Does your city do anything special for Halloween?
Not that I know of. Trick or Treating and haunted houses. I think that's about it.

What modes of public transportation do you have in your city? If we're talking my actual city, mainly buses. The metropolitan area has trains, light rail, subways, all sorts of fun stuff.

Is it any good? UGH. This is probably a bad day to ask because my train was 20 minutes late this morning. It runs late more often than not, these days, plus there have been at least four pedestrian accidents in the past couple of months. I actually had to take a sick day because of one. And if I'm taking my bike to the train station, it takes me about ten minutes, but if I have to take the bus (usually because of rain), it takes an hour. The nice thing about it is that I can read/futz with my iPad/sleep/etc instead of paying attention, and my commuting time isn't as variable as if I were driving.

Something about your city that you love: My suburb is pretty centrally located (our apartment is less than two miles from two major freeways), and there's always a lot to do in Los Angeles.

Do you know who your mayor is? Do you like them? I have no idea who the mayor of my city is. But pretty much, the current president of the Resort calls the shots.

Does your city do anything special for halloween? Disneyland has a lot of extra stuff for Halloween now. But aside from that, and the attendant traffic around the resort area that can reduce you to full-blown insanity, I'm not really aware of anything. (Though at least Disney is somewhat equipped for heavy traffic and the gridlock usually only extends about a mile away from the park; with Knott's Scary Farm, the backup can last five or six miles easily. Every night in October.)

What modes of public transportation do you have in your city? Bus and metro, also fixed-route taxis. Oh, and regular taxis are plentiful and cheap.

Is it any good? Yes. The metro is super crowded because they revamped the bus system in a way that caused mass chaos at first, so everyone switched to taking the metro, but it's also clean and efficient. The buses are pretty good too.

Something about your city that you love: A lot of the old architecture - I like seeing the history of the city mixed in with the new stuff. Also the fact that there are little plazas and parks everywhere is nice.

Do you know who your mayor is? Do you like them? Santiago has mayors for each comuna (municipality). I know who mine is. I dislike him because he's super right-wing (openly supported Pinochet's dictatorship), but he's a pretty good mayor and has instituted programs like a bike-share and public library cafés.

Does your city do anything special for halloween? Nope, it's only recently celebrated here, and it's just some little kids who'll dress up.
