Stressed :( about photographer

Hello Ladies,

I am soo stresesd about planning this wedding! I am having such a hard time with finding a photographer.

If you guys don't mind me asking, but how much are you guys paying for a photographer? 3 days of events.

Some of these photographers only want to give me a total of 100 pictures edited for all 3 events total!! that is def not enough!

Sorry I am kind of venting here!

I contacted Adrena photography multiple times but i guess shes just busy cuz i still havent received a quote from her after speaking to her... but her work truly is great.

100 photos is outrageous!  We got around 500 of one day!

I'm not sure my info is helpful since we had an American wedding and I'm in a different area, but what I found from interviewing MANY photographers:

Mine was just under $4000.  That included engagement photos, 2 cameras at the wedding, they came to 3 locations, covering getting ready, portraits, ceremony, and the reception until dancing was underway.  We got medium resolution files and a guestbook, no albums or prints.  In our area, this is a reasonable price for a decent photographer.

Prices in your area will probably be different (I think less).

A package should include 1-2 shooters for an event, a specified time frame (often 8 hours or full day), and all "useable" files.  Most will have packages that offer albums, extra sessions (engagement, TTD, day after), etc.  You might be able to negotiate the 3 days into one package that includes multiple sessions, depending how many hours you need each day.

There is NO reason they would give you only 100 photos!

    Zainaba,

I researched photographers too and they are super expensive. I could not believe how much they charged, I underbudgeted a lot. I am paying a little more than 5K for 10 hours, unlimited locations, high res images, album, more than 400 EDITED images, 250 prints. My entire package initially was below $4000 but getting high-res pictures cost me about $1000, and the taxes add up quickly.

    Hi Zainaba -
For the before wedding, wedding, portraits at another location and reception for me, I got for $1800 the following (18 hours of footage):
    - 3 sets of 2 dvds - one containing 700 edited pictures and other containing all RAW images, which are much larger, if I wanted to use those pictures for scrapbooking, or if there were adidtional shots that were not used in the editting process...
-- one for each family - us, in laws, and my parents
-- all photos didn't have the copyright on it, means, I have a right to use them
-- A teaser website so that our guests could see images a few hours after the wedding
-- a portrait picture printed out and framed for the escort table for the reception

For the other events (mehendi, various poojas/havans, and haldiwaan), friends and family took those pictures, and were nicely done :)  (Those ones were free)

ETA: I didn't want an hard copy album, because I was set on making my own through inkubook, and they did an absolutely fabulous job!  With over 2000 pictures - professional, and family ones :)  So I got a digitial album through my photographer.

Ours charged $4000 for 8 hours of shooting and is giving us everything. We were able to add on mehendi coverage for $2500. She is in Boston but also shot my cousin's wedding in Chicago but I have no idea where else she travels or even if she does other places. Hope this helps with your numbers in any case.
