Cleanse

I am starting a cleanse this morning...No processed food.  All foods eaten must be in their original state or if they are changed they must be change me.  This is a huge change in my eating habits but I feel like it is important to cleanse before the big stress hits.  has anyone ever done one of these cleanses?

  • I despise the word cleanse because it implies one of those drastic detox programs that are terrible for you.  However, clean eating (what you're doing) is AWESOME.  Way to go!

    You should stop in on the getting in shape board - someone just posted about starting clean eating, and the girls already doing it are sharing some great recipes and ideas.  I'm not a full 'clean eater' yet, but I have cut a lot of the processed food, and feel fantastic.

  • I am not doing that, but more power to you.  You should check out www.100daysofrealfood.com It is one of the blogs I follow, written by a mom who, with her family, gave up processed food for 100 days.

    Good point, I agree that "cleanse" is probably the incorrect word to use, but at 7:30 am it was the only word in my vocab!! :)  I will stop by the getting in shape board for sure!

    Clean eating is a wonderful thing! I follow this the majority of the time and feel great. You will probably naturally start to eat less refined carbs and added sugar, and you seriously will start to not miss them. Good luck with it!
  • That is a great blog.  Lots of good recipes on there.  I haven't made the transition yet, but I want to!
  • I'm not doing a cleanse, but I am reducing my calorie intake.

    I'm going to eat a frozen healthy choice meal a couple of times per week for lunch when I'm at work. But most of my food will be cooked at home, and at least 60% of the stuff in my fridge/cabinet are organic anyway.

    For example, I made a lasgana last night with whole wheat noodles, organic pasta sauce, lean ground turkey. I'm also upping my organic fresh fruit and fresh veggies intake. I switched to decaf temporarily and I'm avoiding sugary drinks, attempting to drink more water.

    If I can get in a 15 minutes of jump rope per day, I think I'll be set.

    (Since the wedding is in two days, I'm really just trying to lose 2 pounds and avoid headaches. No more than that. )
