David's Bridal

Crappy experience.  I went there today with my niece to find a bridesmaid dress and they are the most unorganized bunch of idiots.  I am seriously amazed that they sell any dresses.  I found one that I loved but I can say that I am going to do everything in my power to find something elsewhere.  I have zero desire to give them my business.

Maybe it's just my location in Schaumburg.  But they seriously sucked.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt because when I went looking for my dress I was way not impressed.  I didn't buy from them, but figured bridesmaids I would get from them.  Did anyone have a good or bad experience with David's?

  • I was shocked, but had a good experience there.  I didn't find my dress there but my consultant was friendly and attentive and understood what I was looking for.

I went to House of Brides across the street next, and they were TERRIBLE.

  • I had to buy a bridesmaid dress at David's Bridal for a wedding that I was in, but I went to a different location.  I had the same kind of experience as you.  Incompetent, rude, etc.  They told me that I had a "weird" body shape and that I would have to completely take apart a dress to fit me.  Um, hello?  I am a normal size 4 in womens, and I do wear clothes bought from stores!  From the way she was so disgusted that nothing fit me, it was like I was some kind of freakshow.

  • You cannot go on a weekend.   It is CRAZZZZZZZZZY.
It's time. Adoption saving and process started in November 2012.

  • I went to the one in Aurora, and it was pretty terrible.  The woman helping me was totally clueless, and my mom was the one helping me with all the dresses.  The quality of dresses was sub-par for the pricing, too.  I expected the dresses there to be around $300 or so, especially after trying on a bunch of designer dresses for 700-800 earlier in the day that were beautiful.  Most of the ones I tried on at David's were at least $700 and not nearly as good in quality.

That being said, I did get my bridesmaid dresses there.  My bridesmaids are all over the country, and it was easiest for everyone to get to.  If you go in knowing what you want and don't have to rely too much on the salespeople, it's not so bad.  I suggest shopping dresses online first to get a good idea of what's available.
  • My fiance and brides maids went to the Schaumburg location and had an amazing experience.  She found a her dress at a great price.  Her brides maids found their dresses as well. All dresses have been received for our September Wedding. What a relief to have them in our hands already.  They did however have a horrible experience at House Of Brides across the street!

  • I agree with barbbhoww.  If you can avoid going there on the weekend, I would suggest it. I think it's just too crazy for them to take care of anyone.  There is no good reason for the rude comments, however.

I went to a few different locations (Aurora, Lombard and Chicago on Elston).  I was more of an independent shopper, however, and didn't really want the attention....unless I had a question, of course.  I almost bought my dress there and only didn't because I ended up finding one I loved a lot more.  We did get the bridesemaids dresses there, however.  Their purple was the perfect shape.  They had different style to accommodate everyone's choice and body type and yes, it was nice for the bridesmaid who lives in Utah to be able to try her dresses on there.
  • I went to DB as a bride and BM.  I went to the one in Oak Lawn and my experience as a bride was somewhat better but as a bridesmaid it was horrible.  If you look up the Oak Lawn DV on yelp, I gave them a review reflecting that experience.  They were just rude, didn't measure us, the bride had to pull dresses for us, our attendant disappeared.  I use to work in fine dresses and I understand wedding season on a Saturday but that is not an excuse to overbook attendants and to have horrible service.  I feel like David's Bridal knows that brides on a budget are kind of stuck with them.  We actually received feedback from DB after my yelp review and they said our attendant was overbooked.  To me that is a BS excuse because there were attendants unassigned and all the persons our attendant was assigned to were near us and our attendant just disappeared.  As in a bride was sitting in the dress she wanted for 20 minutes in the room next to us waiting for the attendant to show up.

    This was my review.

I was here as part of a group for bridesmaids dresses. We immediately asked if we would have some place to put our purse or coats. "No." Our sales person disappeared. We were left to pull dresses for ourselves and one another. Every once in a while she would reappear with our sheet and ask if anyone had decided. Our bride asked for clips, to tighten the dresses, from a sales girl. The sales girl responded with "They are somewhere." and walked away. The bride clipped the back of our dresses for us. I realize this is a Saturday during wedding season but this David's Bridal. You specialize in weddings.

Did I mention there were 5 sales girls just standing by the entrance?

On the plus, I found a bridesmaid dress I like and there were a lot of dresses to pick from.

  • I've gone to the one on Elston in the city to pick up a bridesmaid dress and look at their wedding dresses. I went on a weekday and everyone that worked there was very nice and helpful. I didn't get my dress there, but they were sweet and gave a lot of suggestions.  I think the key may be to not go on a weekend.
