bustle opinions

I'm having a hard time figuring out a bustle for my gown. How do you think this site ( http://www.leanna.com/Bustle/Bustles.shtml ) ballroom bustle would look...? My worries are that it would either be too bulky or mess up the pattern/flow of the dress.

I think this is a perfect question for your seamstress. I wasn't sure what I would do as a bustle for my dress because the back is totally asymmetrical and there isn't any sort of seam or good place to fasten it in the back. She suggested bringing it up to my right hip, much like the 'side sling' bustle on the link you posted, and it's perfect. They do this all the time, I'm sure they'll show you at least one good option that will look great with you dress. Good luck!

I like that idea or the English or pick-up will probably look good too. I would have you seamstress show you what they would look like with your gow before deciding.

My seamstress helped me. We are doing a ballgown bustle for the bottom layer and a pick up bustle for the lace layer.... I figure she's the expert!

I havent seen that kind of bustle IRL but I would also worry it would add too much bulk. I think that would look good with what I thought was a french bustle (but looks different on that site). Like this:

If my eyes are right, thats the same dress as I got. If so, I am having them do an "over" bustle on it so that no one steps on it.

I think it would look okay, but it would have a little extra bulk. See what your seamstress says and go from there! I'm doing a french bustle on mine.

I have the same dress! I don't remember if that is the name of the one the seamstress recommended for me, but I think my bustle is going to be pinned underneath the skirt, but low enough so that it won't make my butt look big(ger). The skirt is too dramatic to add a bustle over it, because you lose the wow factor of the skirt. Good luck!
