Dress help

Hello,

This is my first time posting here. I'm a year out for the wedding, so starting to look at dresses. I'm looking for something other then white, thinking about going a deep red. I've found some beautiful dresses on weddingdressfantasy.com but I'm not real comfortable about ordering a dress online. Has anyone had any experience with this site that can give feedback, positive or negative?

The other option I was looking into was contact a local corset maker here to do a corset dress. The concern there is simply cost. I know it'd be exactly what I want, but do I really want to spend $1200 on a dress?

Anything would help. Thank you ladies :)

Hey, I can't give you any help with feedback on the website, but I see you're from Portland, too. Have you been into Cocoon Silk, by any chance? They're making my green dress for me and I'm paying 300 dollars for it, you pay half up front and the rest when it's complete. Also, free alterations and they make custom dresses, like if you bring in a picture or whatever or like different aspects of different dresses in the shop.

Oh, and they'll also make a color for you. No sh*t. The green silks they had weren't quite what I was looking for so they worked with dyes and made it exactly what I wanted. (The owner/designer is Cambodian and owns the place back in Cambodia that makes the silk. Employs his entire hometown.)

  • wow...the place jessica is talking about sounds amazing!
  • I've heard of brides buying bridesmaids dresses or quinceanera dresses for their bridal gown. You can find some gorgeous dresses that way, and they should be a lot cheaper. Some bridal salons have colored dresses, I'm not a fan of David's Bridal but they have a new dress in pink as part of their Vera line I believe. The bridal salon I went to had this absolutely gorgeous Maggie Sottero dress in Oceana blue, I wanted it so badly! It was just soo pretty!

  • I'm planning on wearing a purple gown, and I've found a couple dresses online that don't look too prom-y or quince-y.  It takes a lot of searching just to find a few possibilities.  Colored gowns are definitely tougher than white.  Good luck!  You have time though.  It'll all come together.
