Does this happen to anyone else?

So I decided to DIY the invitations (I think) and have been designing them for quite some time now.  The problem is because I have 100% control over what they look like, I CAN'T make them "good enough". There's always something to tweak, and then I get caught up in a whole new look.  I'm thinking of just buying some non DIY invitations so I can relax, because I'm seriously dreaming about fonts and colors while I sleep.

    I have a minor in graphic communcation and everyone keeps telling to diy for the std and invites, but I said no. There is no way that I can do it myself because I always think they need to be better(I tried to do it)! I am having a friend design them or just order them online so I don't have to worry about how I messed up and didn't do a good enough job.

    Lol maybe I should hire you.  My FI just had the great idea that the next idea I finish and like, I give him the master copy, and delete everything to do with it on my computer.  I think it might actually work.

    I have the same problem! I don't have a degree in design or anything, but I am definitely designing our STD's and am thinking of doing our invites too. I spend HOURS on Dafont.com looking for just the right font, or moving a shape back and forth 1/100 of an inch because I don't like where it is. At some point, I am just going to have to be done with it and print them.

    I know if I designed my invites myself I would have to have my fiance draw them  I am way to OCD and would never be happy witht he end result.  I am doing our save the dates though.  Much easier and not as much formal.  I have already come up with what I want for both invites, save the dates, and favor tags.  Now I just need FI to sit down and draw it out and see whats the more economical decision, if we should diy or have them printed by an invitation company at wholesale costs.

    Im surprised the girl I'm working with hasn't told me to get lost already. Ive been talking to her since February and have changed the invite 3 times. Like they say 3rd times the charm! I have vowed to leave her alone until final wording, times and locales are completed.

    I could never do invites myself. Between google and pinterest and etsy Ive probably said "Oh, i like those..and THOSE" about a zillion times!  haha

    I agree with you Gab, I think you should finish 1, give the copy to Fi and let it be. Otherwise you'll drive yourself bonkers going through different designs and whatnots

    It's way to late to prevent going bonkers, that ship sailed years ago, but maybe I can stop myself from muttering about flourishes and paper weight in my sleep.

    I did have this issue at some point, but then I let it go. Its very different from my orginal vision, I felt I had the elements I desired.

    Ooh..one cannot see too many flourishy flourishes lol. Is there a 12 step invite design program we should sign you up for? Haha

    Oh man, I already spend way too much time obsessing over the pre-made options... having a blank canvas would be too much! I admire those of you who do total DIY!

    I really really really want to DIY my own invites.  I plan on designing postcards from vistaprint for STDs & announcements but I really want to DIY pocketfolds and envelopes with cute liners (because I'm crazy).  But then I go to Wal*Mart and they have pocketfolds that would be "good enough" in complementary colors (a green instead of teal, and a different neutral) and I go "huh, that would be so much easier/cheaper."

    But yes, I think that about everything I make, all of the time.  There's always something I could be better.  Part of me thinks that is part of the charm of DIY.  Those little flaws that say "hand made, not machine made".
