Slow day at work....

Anyone else having a quiet day at work. 75% of the office is out at conferences this week. So not a whole lot is happening.

I am sitting here wishing I was outside enjoying the weather instead of being stuck inside with no window :(

Anyone want to chat about anything and everything to pass the time by?

  • Yes.  Do you speak German? You said you lived there? how was it? When was it? Would you go back?
  • Slow day here too!  Winter is our off season so not much to do.  I've been browsing for wedding stuff/ideas all afternoon!  Only 2.5 more hours until home time (and then school until 9:30).

What kind of work do you do?

    Posted by Megbo2012[/QUOTE]

No I unfortunately do not speak German. Dad was stationed there. We were there from 87-90 and then from 92-95. If I lived there again, I would pick it back up. (I took Spanish in HS and college and I had issues with German sounds and numbers being used for Spanish)

I loved Germany. We traveled a lot when we were there. I think that is why I love history so much. I was able to see how the wall divided Germany and then see how both came back together and form a unified German. Berlin was my favorite place of all times to visit (well outside of LegoLand)

I really want to go back. I want to take FI and show him where I used to live. My brother wants to take his wife there for the same reason. We might to a trip together sometime in the future.

Some days I wish I had school work to do. I miss living according to the academic calendar.

Right now I help students fill out FAFSA and get enrolled in school. But I really want to teach college fulltime instead of as an adjunct.

We went to a GS specific place, so it was super cheap.  I asked about the German thing because I'm currently taking it and sucking.

Yes, I have been to Portland. My SIL is from Salem. Definately spent time there.

I am jealous of living in Australia. I would love to visit and even live there.

Singapore is definately different than here. I love experiencing the different cultures.

If I cannot find a permenant teaching job, I would love to have a job that included traveling internationally or even living internationally.

<div>Ugh that's so unfair! Zero training?! My first one, after about 18 weeks of training (and just casual running before training) was about 2:12. It will be a major accomplishment to run under two hours for me. I'm thinking about running the Disney half next January, mostly as an excuse to go to Disney World haha.</div>
    image
  • G2 we will DEFINTELY be doing some serious eating/sightseeing.  Mainly it's an excuse to go.  Plus I want my mom to come too.  She doesn't run, but loves to watch.

Daria-Tell me about it. I'm used to it though. I won't ever be able to beat him but I can still try! I have more school records than him though. Ha! I'm not really sure what a "good" time is for a half, I only slightly know marathon times.  I'm a mid distance person right now and once I graduate I'll also "Graduate" to 5k/10k then halfs and then finally marathons.  Goal is to eventually qualify for Boston. Ultimate goal would be like 3:15 I think.  Not sure though.
  • A June Knottie G2G idea: Running the Disney half :)

That would be fun. It just gets too hot here. I tried training for one last year for November. But the 100+ temps got to me and I could not handle running anymore.

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • A June Knottie Disney Half would be so much fun! I think they even have a relay team option for those who don't want to run the full 13.1.

Meg-my ultimate goal is the Iron Man in Hawaii. That is pretty much guaranteed to never happen though, I don't know when I my life I would have the time to train that much when I work about 60-90 hours a week. But I am thinking about doing the NYC triatholan next year which is a relatively "easy" distance.
    image
  • Daria I could never to an Iron man, too time consuming.  I am going to try my hand at Tris though, I even got a bike last summer but I can't much now because I'm in season all year!
