How can this be?!

I got a call just now from a wedding vendor company, saying that it was a pleasure meeting wtih me at the bridal show yesterday and that I have won a prize.  How can this be when I did not even attend the show?  Where did they get my information from?!

This happened to me when I pre-registered for a bridal show but never showed up. It's a real business turn-off, isn't it?

    oooo wicked sketchy...
Def. don't call them back. That's kinda scary!
Did you ever attend one way back when? Maybe they keep their contacts from other shows or events?

In my opinion, all of the sweepstakes companies that collect info at these shows are sketchy. Ignore it and don't answer your phone when they call back (some are really persistent).

The people who run these shows really have to do something about the scam artist companies that go to their shows and get as many people's information so they can scam them. If you were at the Boston show this weekend, they were set up right as you walk in. I made the mistake of giving them my info at another show in November and they are still calling me.

Very few people vin vacations for nothing. If you have to attend a meeting to see what they sell before they give you the vacation, it's a scam, people. I was much more careful about who I gave my info out to this time.

Also, I have heard of this happening if you put your name on certain mailing lists at David's Bridal... it sucks and is a total downer :(

I just got an email from a photographer saying I won a $1000 album, and I just need to make a deposit to book with them. Which is interesting, because I already have a photographer so I didn't even say more than "hi" to any photography vendors at the last show I went to.

Did you register at the front door, where they have you sign up for some kind of grand or show prize? I think they distribute those cards to vendors.
