Rehearsal Dinner Locations/Ideas

So we're 7 mo. away and FMIL is starting to think about rehearsal dinner stuff. But I'm kind of at a loss of some places to have it that won't be an arm and a leg. FMIL is on the other side of the country too, so mostly long distance planning on her part.

Any suggestions? We're looking to stay relatively close to downtown since thats where the rehearsal and hotel are but would drive 15 min. so Grandview, Clintonville, Bexely and Gahanna are options too. Guest = 40-50.

Thanks!

only thing I've put the nix on is Buca - I do not want to smell like garlic all day for the wedding! haha they do that to me...

I know you said you didn't want to smell like garlic, but look into the Spaghetti Warehouse.  It's right downtown and WAY cheaper than Buca.  We were able to have the whole upstairs party room to ourselves and they let us bring in our own dessert.  The cost per person included salad, bread, choice of entree and unlimited nonalcholic drinks plus tax and gratuity.  If you wanted drinks, they had seperate bar packages.   You really got a lot of bang for your buck in my opinion.

Another option, depending on what types of food you like - Schmidt's in German Village. Their second floor is a private room. Typically up there they do buffet serving. Their food is very good, German, and they have fabulous creme puffs. For the buffet they put out mini creme puffs with different fillings.

Prices are usually very reasonable too.

I second Schmidt's that's where we are going! It's very cute and very affordable.

I second Spaghetti Warehouse.  We had our RD there for a group of around 60 and it was perfect!  The planning was so easy that I felt like something was wrong, because literally, all I had to do was turn in the numbers and show up.

We did the middle of the road package, which was $15 per person, and pre-ordered 20 bottles of house wine.  Everyone ate and drank well, and we got out of there for around $1200.  Like emsrdh03 said, totally a lot of bang for your buck.

We are planning on having our rehearsal dinner at Cap City Fine Diner in Gradview. It is our fave restaurant, and we always go their on our anniversary (big cup o' chocolate = best thing ever) They offer a limited menu (salad, A few entree choices, dessert, and non-alc drinks) all for at or below their regular menu prices. You can also do alcohol by pre ordering wine or just by the drink (I think, not totally sure cause we prob arent doing alcohol) Anyway, they have amazing food and a really cool atmosphere so you should check it ou!
