Dress Shopping in RI

OK so I know there are a bunch of posts on this - but need to know, what bridal salons in RI are best for selection and "experience".  We went to Ana's in EP this past weekend and we ordered our bridesmaid dresses.  I was inpressed with their selection compared to Helene's and Wishing Well.  We ended up purchasing the dresses there.  I did make an appt to go back at the end of the month for my bridal dress - but scared by all the horrible reviews... The experience with my girls was fine - but basically we did everything on our own with little help from the sales girls....I DO NOT want it to be that way when I look for my dress!

Are the places in EG better? What was the best places to go try on dresses?

The girls on here will have lots of suggestions.

I purchased my gown and all the other dresses at Alexandra's in Fall River and was very pleased with their selection.  It is a smaller bridal shop with tons of dresses crammed in but you don't have the privacy of some of the other shops (I think Helene's is a board favorite).  You have a private room but then come out to a bigger room to see the dress which could have other parties in it.  I was initially put off by how crowded with dresses the space was with all the dresses but was won over by the selection and the gown which not many shops in RI carry.  I have had a great service experience there but I will admit that some of the staff is inexperienced, I prefer to work with Rosana who has helped me from the beginning.

I would suggest pick out designers that you like and then finding local shops from there.  Have fun!

  • I got my dress at Helenes... my experience was wonderful.  I would reccomend having Ashley help you, she is extremely friendly and helpful.
  • LOVE Helene's. Got my dress there and the girls dresses. We are also getting the tuxes downstairs at Anthony's. I only went to Helene's and Alexandra's. I didn't have a bad experience at Alexandra's per se, I just liked Helene's better. Another good one is bridal garden in Warwick I believe. My friend did go to sassy and classy in EG and loved it. GL!
  • I got my dress at Ana's.  Overall my experience was positive.  The day i was there to try on dresses was fantastic!  I had an appointment first thing in the AM on a Saturday.  The girl who helped me was so helpful and friendly and attentive.  She was able to pull out lots of different dress options, but clearly understood the style/look i was going for.  I purchased a dress that day, and was assured they would be flexible in having me return for fittings as i was coming from out of state (NJ).  Ana did a FANTASTIC job with my alterations.  I ended up buying a dress off the rack which needed to have MAJOR alterations to be taken from a size 10 down to a size 6.  The prices were reasonable and her work is beautiful.  My only complaint with the shop was the staff that answers the phone / schedules appointments. They were very stern about their policy of alternations only on weeknights and after a long conversation, they finally said it was OK to come in on a Saturday late in the day.  Once I got through that "mini road block" the rest of the alteration process was great.  I would say they dress selection and great staff out help find the dress outweighed the poor customer service experience on the back end to schedule fittings.  Good luck!
  • I also thought that I was going to have this stellar experience and felt that it was lacking at a lot of places. While some of the sales girls at Ana's are knowledgable some are really young and msotly there to just help you get in adn out of a dress.
But, this is like this at a lot of places.

I just went shoppping withmy mom and really liked the Bridal Garden- I wish I looked their for my dress. While you are there you can also check out Sassy and Classy and that Bridal Couture place. I tink its a nicer (read: calmer) atmosphere at t hese places.

I actually went to every store in RI except those three. I ended up getting my dress at Bridal and Gift in North Attleboro It was my last stop before heading to Klienfelds. I was really fed up adn went there on a whim.

To be honest, they didn't have my gown there. The gown i LOVED was at Ana's but since they carried the line htey ordered it for me there because they are closer to my house an also the service was a lot better.

I tried on dresses downstairs where it is a LOT less crowded and they carried some different brands. Like Justin Alexander and Aire Bridals

I also like Helene's a lot. The sales girl there (I think it was ashley) was BEYOND accomodating to me. Especially because I am NOT by any means a sample size. SHe literally made EVERY dress fit. And I was totally embarssed and she didint care at all at one point I was stnading there just in my skeevie and i felt so awkward and she totally made me feel at ease.

  • I got my dress at Bridal Garden in EG, and they were AMAZING! I was one of the Cinderella Bride's and was completely put off with anything having to do with wedding gowns.  But Christina and her staff were great, I couldn't have asked for a better (round 2) experience.

    Good Luck!
  • I bought my dress, all the girls dresses, and both the mother's dresses at Dress Express in Fall River.  I have no complaints about them what-so-ever.  The girls are very helpful.  My FMIL's dress came in very quickly and my mother found her dress on the clearance rack.  If you order your bridal gown from them they include all the basic alterations with the price of the gown.  They have a huge selection and you don't need an appointment.
