  Pumpkins. They're round, and you can make orange icing. Can you get green lollypop sticks for the stems? If not, add a little piece of green shoestring licorice or something. Bonus if the cake is pumpkin spice flavored.

  I did pumpkins for halloween last year (little jack o'lanterns). But I think doing the flavored cake and doing both pumpkins and other fall items would work really well.
  
  It's for both centerpiece and dessert.

  I would do simple green balls and put them in a green platter as peas.  Esp. if they're going to sit on the table.  Also goes with your preggo pea-in-the-pod theme.

  We will be traveling to see H's family, so cookies would be best for me to make. I want to bring something, but cupcakes (what I usually make) would not travel well.

  You could make brown balls and then pipe two little white leg thingies on the sides.  Like baked turkeys.
