night before?

I'm getting married at a venue about 40 minutes from my Mom's house. My wedding is at 12 and I need to start getting ready by 9ish. I am trying to decide whether or not to get a hotel room the night before or pocket the money. What is everyone else doing?

Re: night before?

  • My parents got us a hotel room for the wedding weekend and extended it to include the night before. It is there way of getting their way and not letting us see each all night :)
  • We are in the same boat, the venue is about 30-45 minutes away from both of our parents' houses. We are each staying with our parents the night before.

  • FI is staying at our house, and I will be staying at my parents' house. I think because your wedding is rather early and you don't want to wake up at the crack of dawn maybe it would be wise for you to get a hotel room the night before near the venue if you are able. But if not I am sure you can make it work.

  • My phone won't let me quote. Stupid thing. I agree with mandy. I would get a room to save yourself some time. And sanity. We are staying at the same hotel the wedding is at and we have the deluxe suite the whole weekend. But I am staying alone the night before so I can relax, reflect, and hopefully get some sleep.
  • I'm in the same boat and so I'm staying in our honeymoon suite the night before. That way I have room for the hair and make up people to come in and do their thing while there will still be room for people to hang and keep me company. FI is getting ready at his parents house.

  • Thanks guys! Our venue comes with our honeymoon suite (we get to stay on property for the night), but I am going to look into hotels nearby. I am waiting to see what the owner says about getting in there early. Thanks for the advice.

  • We're getting married in my hometown. I'm staying with my parents the night before and FI is staying in the hotel room we have for the weekend. Then, obviously, I will join him at the hotel the night of the wedding.

FSMIL is in poor health and needs to go to bed very early so we're doing the rehearsal at 4:30 and dinner immediately afterwards at a local steakhouse (nothing fancy). That way we'll be done early and hopefully can relax that evening. I'm hoping to go hang out at the hotel with FI before bed.

  • We're doing something a bit untraditional, kind of like a RD after party for the WP. The FI and I rented a pres. suite at our downtown Hilton (it's bigger then our apartment, lol). After the rehearsal dinner all the WP is going to stay down there and we'll go out for drinks and then probably play some cheesy games (twister, etc) at the hotel. The following morning everyone will be getting ready there (girls and guys separately) and then that night it will be our honeymoon suite. :)  My FI is my bestfriend and I couldn't imagine not spending one of the most exciting nights in our lives apart. He wont see me in my dress until pics, etc. but that way we'll all be together and have a little pre-wedding (breather) party  :)

  • I'm staying with my MOH and BM in my BM's hotel room.  We will prob take a little walk on the strip and then try and get some sleep
