Hi!  I just read your intro in the roll call thread.  Welcome to the board.  I can't imagine having been so far away from DH (then FI) when we were engaged.  It's great that he'll soon be closer.

Have you always lived in Alaska?  Do you like living there?  What is your favorite thing about Alaska?  I hope to visit someday.  If you had a friend visit who had never been to Alaska, where would you take her and what would you do?

HI!!! I just saw this!!! But thanks so much!!!  Being away from FI has been SOOOO difficult BUT I think it's been really good for us in a lot of ways!!! But I'm so happy that he's coming up here!!!

I actually moved up here in January from Oklahoma.  My brother is in the Air Force and lives up here.  He got deployed to Japan recently and I was just working at a family business taking classes online and he asked me to move up here and house sit/dog sit for him while he was gone (random, I know lol) but I was like UH YEAH! Haha... but then I fell in love with it here!!

We had no idea if my FI was going to get stationed up here.  He put it as a first choice, but that doesn't ever mean that's what they'll get.  So I've been doing a happy dance pretty much ever since he told me he got Alaska!!! ha.

Well my mom came up to visit a few weeks ago and we did a lot.  There's a lot to do here!!!  I have fallen in love with hiking so I took my mom on a few trails.  There's a small mountain I hike up called the butte and then I took her on a trail that goes to a waterfall.  Anchorage is always neat.  It has more shopping and what not.  We went through hatcher's pass which is pretty much a gravel path that goes over a mountain!  It's a beautiful drive!!!  and there's an old mine that you can stop at and tour and you can also pan for gold!  They teach you how!  It's so neat!!!  And towards the end of summer I guess there are wild blue berries that grow up hatchers pass and you can go pick fresh blue berries.  When I first got here it was winter and I went snowmobiling (they actually call it snowmachineing or SnowGos lol ) and that was a blast!! Also, there's a reindeer farm and it's really neat.  It's a family that raises reindeer and you can go in with them and feed them, they're super cute!! They also have a couple of moose and a bison!  And also this is funny, but in March they have an event called the Fur Rondy and it's like a festival and it marks the beginning of the Iditarod which is super neat! OH and during this festival they have running of the reindeer!  And they use the reindeer from the reindeer farm! lol it's so neat!!

I could go on for days!!  But i think I'll stop here for the night!  lol But I would probably take any of my friends to any of these places!  :)
